What is the bus situation like at animal kingdom? Especially in the morning at the resort and then at the parks at the end of a fireworks night? Is the wait long? Are the busses crowded? We always stay at value resorts and the busy bus lines are what we’re trying to avoid. We figured a deluxe resort would be better but since AK seems like a large resort and only has bus transportation I wasn’t sure if it would really be any different.

We did not have any difficulties with buses at AKL. They do stop at Kidani and usually pickup/dropoff there first. In our 7 night stay, we never waited more than 15 minutes for a bus morning or evening. Evening buses will be crowded. I think we did stand several times on return. You can use MDE to check when buses are arriving at the resort. We find the timing pretty accurate most of the time. There are no bus lines at Deluxe resorts, by the way. It is more like catching a city bus as people gather at the depot and load when the bus arrives.

We had great experiences with the buses at AKL as well during both of our stays. Never waited more than 15 minutes for a bus. My Favorite resort and happy place.

Every resort will have busy bus/ monorail/ boat lines at open and close. There is no avoiding that. Buses are going to be crowded at those times.

That being said, I have never had an issue at AKL. Buses are usually pretty prompt, comparable to what we get when we stay at the Pop. As a PP said they will pull in extra buses at busy times, and that applies to every resort. We have seen two buses pull in at once to load for a busy park at all levels of resort.

I have definitely seen people lined up to get on buses at deluxe resorts. There isn't a roped off line but there is typically a line forming at open. There are lines roped off waiting to leave parks though.
