I think I want to bring the whole family. What might there be to do there for 5 year olds in January? Or, should I leave them home?

Thanks.

well, if it is late in january, you've got the option of the biggest football game of the year. i guess you can see where my thinking is today. but, hopefully, i'll be in town for business at that time also, i guess i won't be working in detroit this year, unless i pick up last minute work, (keeping those prayers going up).

You get to know about business trips a whole year in advance? Lucky you!!! DH usually finds out about 2 weeks in advance. Not enough time for me to get time off approved at work so I can go along.

Well, it is an annual DJ covention held every year in January.

Well, Miami will be warmer than where you are!

For kids there's the Seaquarium, the Zoo, Parrot Jungle, Monkey Jungle. Might not be beach weather, or you might get lucky! That's in Miami proper. A bit further north there's Ft. Lauderdale. Further south there are the keys. Depends how far you want to drive around, or if you want to drive around.

I enjoy Miami as an adult, but have only ever taken a 16 month old there. I bet if you do some Googling you'll find a few more interesting things to do while you're there. Of course it also depends where else you might have wanted to spend your money on for a family vacation, and whether Miami will be better than that place for your family or not!

One of the best times I have had as a kid was spent at Monkey Jungle...I haven't been there since I was little but I remember it being awesome...check it out, here's a link, I think 5 year olds would love it...you are in a cage and the monkeys run free. They love to steal stuff off of people, so be careful.
