Are they a good thing to have?

Are you not going to be laughed at by networking people in classes if you have them? Will they just toss them?

And I guess my main worry is - can we even have them? If so - is there a standard way they're supposed to look? Can they not say "Walt Disney World" on them or anything for the spot you're supposed to put "Company?"

I wanted to get some to give out if necessary to the speakers at the classes they offer, or managers, etc. But I don't know if that's frowned upon, or if I can't have certain things on them....

Does anyone who works there now know?

You can't have anything that associates you with Disney on your personal cards. I thought of them more as "calling cards" than anything. I had taken the Personal Branding class and put my blurb on mine under my name along with my email and my phone#.

I ordered mine in full color from Vistaprint (free, although I did pony up for the blank back) and they were eye-catching. Everyone I gave them to put them in their planner or notebook, so I don't know if they tossed them later. I get the feeling they probably pulled it out at least once more and gave it a closer look just because it was out of the ordinary. I did receive several positive comments after it was read, however, so that little extra bit of attention never hurts. I think it is always a good idea to have some kind of calling card with you; you just never know whom you are going to bump into.

That said, the day I got my first official Disney business cards, I got all verklempt because I had a business card with MICKEY next to MY name!!! It is an amazing feeling, let me tell you!

Okay, thank you!

I definitely want something I can just hand out, I have pretty awful handwriting if I'm trying to quickly write down something to give someone.

Would you advise keeping the design simple, or do you think I could go with something like this?

I wouldn't put all that info on there, but I thought the little castle was cute - or does that associate with Disney too much?

As for a little blurb - I apologize for all the questions - do I just do a general skill set sort of blurb? I guess I'm not sure what someone may be looking for that isn't Disney-related.

I would go with something that doesn't have the castle on it. In addition to the legal issues surrounding it, Business Cards have a standard design across most Operating Areas throughout The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated Companies. If you present a card that's Disney-esque, but not in compliance with those standards, it'll probably just end up confusing people.

From what I can tell, modern trends in Business Cards these days tend to be towards crisp, clean and professional. Less is more.

If your in college theme your card with your major. Or you can always theme it with what you want to do at disney. Blue prints or a ride if you want to build them, drawings/sketches if you want to do characters, or general colorful design if your in graphic designs

I use personal business cards for networking as well. Mine look like a name tag that you get a convention..You know the type "Hello, My name is..."

The front has my name, email, phone number and the back has a brief synopsis of why I should be hired. Graduated with honors, This many years experience doing this, this many years experience doing that, etc.

Mine are kind of cheesy, but they stand out. And the name tag theme fits for the customer service stuff. Find something that works for you and that sends the message of you, whatever that might be. I used this site and a few others to find what I liked.

Those are really cool! I love the embossed ones.... It's amazing what can be made into art.

I think I found a style that I like - it's classic and understated, but elegant. I basically just made it a calling card, like graygables suggested. Very 19th century... but with an email, haha.
