Bush to sail on Disney

Any DISers on the 12/26 cruise have a WONDERful time

Ah, shoot!!! We're going on this trip to relax after the holidays. I hope our schedules aren't all messed up because of this! It's been my experience that when someone "special" is around (hey, aren't we all special on a cruise?) everything gets changed to suit their needs. Yes, it will be exciting to have them around, great for the kids to experience. I just hope that everything runs smoothly. This may be our last shot at a Disney cruise!

The SS said it was easier to protect them since they have the cruise itinerary and passenger list checked out before hand

Have we been checked out?????

Jimmy Carter and family last year. George H.W. Bush and family this year. I guess Jerry Ford's going to have to book for next year!

My cousin is a member of the SS and was on White House duty during the former President Bush's administration. Putting political opinions aside, he said that the former President and the First Lady were two of the nicest people he's ever met in Washington. Mrs. Bush always had a kind word and would stop and chat, and inquiry about the agent's family and children.

Again, I may not agree with certain goals of the administration, but I would be honored to have the opportunity to meet the family.

Those on the upcoming cruise, enjoy yourselves!!

happylady,

I agree with you about Mrs. Bush...

I remember hearing the story of how she lost her daughter Robin, who was a little girl at the time, and about how the shock and grief turned her hair prematurely white. She later explained out of reverence for the little girl, she never dyed her hair...

Since I heard that story, I've admired Mrs. Bush for her courage...

I think that the reason that the Bush's have chosen the Disney cruise is so that they can play " punch card bingo " LOL:Pinkbounc :bounce: Long live the chads!! :jester:

I was thinking that maybe they chose to cruise to help ease fears about the virus since Florida is such a hotbed of Cruise ships, but I guess that to get the Catagory 1 and 2 rooms, they'd need to have booked a while ago.

Personally, I'd be so excited to have the Bushes on my cruise! Although I'd never actually approach them since they were on vacation.

I wonder if they'll do things like hanging out at the Quiet Cove Pool in their bathing suits? :) Can you imagine Governor Bush and President Bush hanging out in the Hot Tub? :)

If I was the Gov. of Florida, I would choose the Disney ship as well. There is a pattern here. When Jeb was in Chicago last year, CNN did a report with him which was filmed at a Chicago Disney store, now this.

Just how much tax money is generated by WDW for the state of Florida?? Is it the largest income generator for the state??

Irrelevent of taxes, Disney & Florida don't seem to get along too well at times. Read up on the current happenings with the high speed rail system that we are going to have to build here & how Disney is DEMANDING to be the only stop in the Orlando area other than the airport (they don't want it to stop at Universal or even the Convention center).

Florida has no corporate or individual income tax. Property taxes are paid to Orange County.

Ohhhh! Another image! President Bush and Barbara Bush in the Sureal Bath! :)

Sorry! I'll stop now. :)

With the state of the world today, dont you think the safest place to be would be on a ship with the Presidents family? The security would be second to none. We sailed last New Years with the Carters and the SS was always around but never infringed on our good time. This was 3 months after 9/11 and the security wasn't overbearing. Enjoy the brush with fame, when will you or your kids ever be this close to a President and his family? We're Canadian and it was a thrill. As for cabins they didn't take the suites but cabins that were easy for SS to keep regular people away from.

Unlikely. The same rules that apply to us common folk do not apply to people like former presidents. In fact it wouldn't suprise me in the least to hear that DCL actually bumped people who already had booked accomodations. Think about it - the public relations value to DCL alone would be well worth the compensation supplied to people that they needed to bump.

..for one of the Cat 1 cabins wont go through?? JUST KIDDING. I just hope the ship isnt a zoo because of it. I just called my husband and his first reaction was "THATS NOT GOOD!"...He just wants to relax..

LOL, i personally think it is neat :-)

Man, why in the world would they make this public before he sails? Isn't the ship a sitting duck out in the water like that?

I heard a while ago that a sub follows the Magic -- but, that was immediately following 9/11.

Wow, think of the price of that excursion-I thought the Atlantis was pricy:teeth:

I wonder if SS and FDLE agents dress down on cruises?

Happy sailing everyone. :teeth:

Well, that does it. I don't think I'll ever be able to sail on the Wonder after this...

Why not?
I'm sure that they wash their hands just like everyone else.

Pres. Bush is at Camp David......Gov. Bush and his father/mother are on the ship.......last I heard.
