And I think it's about time we demand that he does...

At a time when Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry has come under fire from a group of retired naval officers who say he lied about his combat record in Vietnam, questions about President Bush's 1968-73 stint in the Texas Air National Guard remain unresolved:

Some of the documents about President Bush's military service documents still have not been made public.

Since February, the White House has banned all Guard and military commanders outside the Pentagon from commenting on Bush's records or service.

The Pentagon last week responded to a 4-month-old request from USA TODAY for additional records from Bush's files by sending another copy of documents that were released by the White House in February.

If he served honorably, why not release those records? Why hide what he did?

The American voters have already heard every detail, or lack thereof, of President Bush's National Guard service, and formed their opinons of it. He's the incumbent, and this was fully covered in the 2000 campaign.

Now, without the protection of the liberal news bias, the voters will finally get a chance to see the complete biography of John Kerry, instead of just the santized, airbrushed version his campaign has displayed.

Then the voters will decide.

I don't seem to remember what the President said he did in
the National Guard about reporting or why he got out of his
commitment and if he really did skip the physical and never
report again. Could you help me find a link to his comments/statement? Thanks! This is a valid question and
I'd really like to know the answer.:)

What has being the incumbent got to do with it?

But if you say so, then perhaps you know the answers to these questions and could fill us all in.

1)Why did Bush stop flying fighter jets in the spring of 1972 and fail to take an annual physical exam required of all pilots?

2)What explains the apparent gap in the president's Guard service in 1972-73, a period when commanders in Texas and Alabama say they never saw him report for duty and records show no pay to Bush when he was supposed to be on duty in Alabama? ?

3)Did Bush receive preferential treatment in getting into the Guard and securing a coveted pilot slot despite poor qualifying scores and arrests, but no convictions, for stealing a Christmas wreath and rowdiness at a football game during his college years?

4)Why won't he release his records?

Are we comparing access to Bush's military records to access to Kerry's biography?

Shouldn't it be access to biography to access to biography and access to military records to access to military records?

And I think since this is a new year, new election, new candidates, we need to hear it all again! :bounce: Isn't that the swiftie philosophy?!

I did say "or lack thereof".

Bush has certainly not released all his records. And if ya'll want to beat that horse to death again, have at it. But from the standpoint of political strategy, it would probably be a big mistake, for the reasons I already stressed. The voters have heard it all before. They know President Bush and they already know he didn't go to Vietnam, and that there are gaps in his National Guard service that he hasn't explained.

This stuff on Kerry is all new, to the voters. His anti-war record, and the Cambodia story. I'd love to know how many voters knew absolutely nothing about those issues until late last week. It's probably a significant percentage.

I like the buffet at the Cape May Cafe but I think the Trail's End Buffeteria is good too. I enjoy the show at the Sci-Fi Drive-In. Just my opinion, though.

Thanks for your opinion DISJAZZ. ;) I've been wanting to try Trail's End. Maybe next trip.

Just heard a tape on CNN . .

It seems that O'Neill claims that Kerry was never in Cambodia, you couldn't get into Cambodia by boat, and that he, O'Niell, was never in Cambodia. .

On the tape he is telling Nixon about being in Cambodia on a boat. .

And yes Bet, I do beleive we'll beat that dead horse until the Alabama Warrier explains why he refused the drug test and why there are no records including pay-stubs of the time he claims he was there. .

And remember. . this didn't start with Kerry touting his record in Vietnam; this started with The Boy King landing on that aircracft carrier in his Top-Gun suit complete with codpiece and you people acting like he was some kind of war hero. .

Willy, Kerry's campaign has already backtracked on the Cambodia story. Several times.

Shhhhh. . .

Of course we know that LadyDancer., . but if we admitted it, we'd have nothing to fight about and then what?? Exchange threads??

;)

Exchange threads??

No, please!! Please don't banish me to the exchange threads!

I'll talk, I swear! Bush is the real culprit. He bludgeoned Kerry to death, with his own records, in the observatory and that's why he can't produce them!

I LOVE the Oreo Bon Bons at Cape May! Yummy. Wish I had one and one of the big fluffy yeast rolls I had there last time right now.

And I vaguely remember reading from one of the posters on the this thread that they weren't going to put any more effort into political posts here on the DIS cause it wasn't furthering the Kerry cause. Huh.

lol, dont you all get tired of making good points, no one is ever going to change there mind :p

Oreo bon bons? OMG are you serious? Is it fried oreos or something?

Very interesting PG! Great thread!

Fried Oreos??! no no no!!! It's an Oreo, with white chocolate mousse layered on top, and then the whole thing is covered in chocolate.
