We are staying at POR and need to get to the Contemporary for a 7.30 am Character breakfast at Chef Mickeys.

What buses do i need??

at that early hour, i don't think buses will be running, as I have read they start an hour before the theme parks open. Even if a park is open for early magic hour, buses would not begin to run until 7 am at the earliest. i have also read that you should expect 45-60 minute commute times from one hotel to another. I would recommend a taxi to make your 0730 ADR, but I have to admit I have only read about these things, never experienced thm 1st hand myself. I am sure someone with more experience will opine shortly. Enjoy your stay!!!!

You could avoid any stress starting your day and take a cab. Should cost no more than $20. Then you have a cushion of time. I believe busses will be already running at 7:00. Take a bus to MK and walk over to the Contemporary - about a 10 minute walk but overall you are going to be on a really tight schedule. I don't know if it holds true for the early morning reservations but keep in mind they also like you to check in 10-15 minutes before your reservation time.

For a 7:30 ADR at Chef Mickey's, be out at the MK bus stop at 6:30. When you get on the bus, ask the driver which is faster....walking to the CR or taking the monorail from MK. If you get lucky, you can get dropped right at the CR. I never outright ask to be dropped there, I prefer to let the driver spread some pixiedust for me.
If the driver isn't able to drop you off at the CR (which may very well happen if there are others headed to MK), get off at the MK and stay to the right when you get close to the park entrance. You want to walk to the CR via the walkway that runs beneath the monorail line.....MK will be on your left, bus driveway will be on your immediate right, monorail above you.
It will take less than 10 mins to walk and is actually quite pleasant.
Or, you can take a cab from POR.

There is a bus at all resorts at 6.30am that takes people to dining reservations, i got one from Pop to Poly for Ohanas at 6.30am and they dropped me right outside :thumbsup2 its only the one bus at 6.30am none after that until the regular buses start! Ask the castmembers when you arrive at your resort :)

No, not true. There are multiple buses running after 6:30. They come every 20-30 mins though...sometimes less, but plan on a longer wait just to be safe. In fact, the buses to MK actually start at 6:15!!! I have taken buses to the various parks at 6:45, 7 and so on.

Ok. I think I will just get a later breakfast! It was just make it less of a rush and stress that morning. Thank you all for your replies. They were very helpful.

Please everyone, please heed goofy4tink's words above. She is 100% correct. The posts contradicting hers are based on incorrect information.

If you wish to pay for a taxi, there will be a taxis at your resort ready to take your money, but you will have ample time to take a bus ... there is no need for rushing or stressing.

Please, listen to goofy4tink.

Goofy4tink is right on. Her info is solid.

If I post something about buses, you can be sure its correct, the same from MICKEEP, after all we both drive for Disney.

We have posted this information multiple times. I understand that the search function is iffy here but there is no need to post guesses. If you do not have first hand experience, don't guess.

If you can't find the info, by all means ask but if you don't know the answer, don't post an answer.

Awww, you guys!
I have to say that it's so wonderful to have bus drivers and boat pilots posting here, on the Transportation board. You guys are invaluable to have. So.....let me thank you on behalf of all of us here. Keep that great info coming!!!
And cranbiz...you and I really need to meet up in August. I hate not knowing someone from Mass who is working down in WDW...drives me nuts.
