Buses & double jog stroller

Didn't know where to put this so If you think this is in the wrong spot please move. So my story.

We are going to WDW Dec 6th (yippy!!!) Instead of paying $27? a day for a double stroller we figured that we should just go and buy 1 since we just found out my wife is pregnent with our 3rd (oops!)

So instead of paying $189 for length of stay stroller (that my 18 month old and 5 year old are going to fight in anyway, we thought we would buy a double jog stroller since we are going to use it for the next couple of years. Now comes the question for you all.

a) Does anyone have one and your thoughts on the stroller? (we want to spend about $190 on the thing

b) ever take to disney and use disney transportation? How was it on the bus and monorail and so on?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I just can't seem to pull the trigger on this one and I am running out of time.

First off, congrats on the baby! We have 3, and we love it.

As far as the stroller. Yes, we have traveled to WDW with our double many times. The one we have is not a jogger, however. I'm not sure if you are set on that but this is the one we have:

Our is a couple of years old, and has been to WDW several times and we love it. Both seats recline, it's easy to maneuver, and it fits well through doorways and the monorail. We always rent a car (easier for us with the 3 kids!) so I do not have any experience with the buses, but we do bring it through the airport with us and it does fold down easily and pops right back up. The one con is that it does not have a tray or cupholders, but honestly for all the other positives of this stroller this is not a big deal for us.

We had a double jogger when my boys were little. I never would have wanted to bring it on a Disney bus. It is a pain bringing my Perego P3 (single) and that folds like an umbrella. Any stroller that folds in half would be too much of an hassle for me. That is just my opinon though. Just something to think about.

We also have three kids. Its a blast. Congrats on the new additon. We too arrive on 12/6. We are staying at SSR, our home resort too. How about you?

We had a double stroller for our last trip and it was really hard on the buses. It was especially hard when it was really busy because you had to get it folded up in time to get space on the bus and then usually space was so tight, my DH usually had to stand while I handled a 1.5 year old and a 5 month old.

I think you're going to be hard-pressed to find a good double jogger for that price. A little over a year ago, I was searching for a single jogger for my tall 4yr old because he had just about outgrown his kidco LS2000 (umbrella style, similar to a maclaren stroller) and I ended up buying one for about $170 off of ebay. It is a Dreamer Design Manhattan lite stroller and it is great for taller kids (and tall parents too, which we are). The weight limit on the single is 70lbs and I believe it's double that for the double size one. It is a bear to get on and off the busses. One thing I found strange when I was shopping for a jogging stroller is that some of them don't have anything to lock them closed when they are folded. We took a bungie cord with us to help w/this issue, but an actual lock built into the stroller would have been really nice! We tried ds out in one of the cheaper Baby Trend joggers at Target, and his feet hung over a foot past the edge of the foot rest (there was no "drop" at the edge of the seat, his legs and feet basically stuck straight out). I would say these strollers are probably best for kids under 3yrs of age. In your price range, you might look at your local craigslist, or check sporting goods or childrens resale stores, and you might stumble across a good deal that way. If you want to buy new, then you might check out a decent double umbrella style (which would be easier to deal with on the busses) like the pp posted a link to.
edit to add, here's a pic of my ds at 4 in his jogger. I wish I had taken a pic of him in the Baby Trend one - it was rediculous the way he fit in that one, lol.

We are going in March , I am looking at the Schwinn PR150 Joyrider bike/stroller. Someone did a UTUBE video showing how it folds up. We are planning on me carrying the wheels onto the bus and my husband carrying the stroller. I have a 4 yr DD and 2.5 yr old DS. I have a tandem double stroller, my DD is now over the weight limit and trying to maneuver that thing with her in it is impossible and then when you fold it up, good luck on getting it through anything less than 2 1/2 feet of space. We get season passes to Hersheypark and take our wagon there. We were disappointed that we could not use wagons at Disney and I refuse to rent a stroller from disney scared1: how can they justify the price) So we are investing in the PR150 (and a rectractable lock) to use both there and at Hershey (our little tikes wagon's wheels are not looking the greatest anymore).

We are staying at our home resort SSR as well. We are hoping for the Springs and have requested it. We also have a group of people staying at OLW (I think 8 total) Should be good times

If the buses are crowded when you visit, you could have problems with the stroller. Plan on dh standing while holding the stroller. How are you going to hang on to 2 kids plus the wheels on an over-crowded bus? If you're planning on any night visits where the kids may fall asleep how are you going to get them out of the stroller to take it apart while waiting in line for the bus? Even during slower times people get crazy over those bus lines!

Taking a stroller that large to Disney using the bus is bad idea. The buses are packed and it will be very hard. We took 3 kids (all under 4 years old) to Disney last year and we took a umbrella stroller and rented a double stroller everyday. While it cost more it is 100% easier than trying to fold up a large stroller.

If you are dead set on taking it I would save your sanity and rent a car - seriously taking that large of a stroller on the bus at night will be a nightmare. I can not imagine trying to fold it up - hold 2 sleepy tired kids and than hold everyone and the stroller (maybe while standing) on the bus.

The night time and early mornings would be the worse times as the buses are usually standing room only. And sads to say many times a person hot holding a child will not offer to give up thier seat to a mom holding a sleeping child. My husband and even older son would but lots of people won't so you might be standing.

I've had many strollers, and with the doubles, I always had one for the van (Combi Twin Savy, closes up small in seconds, with a shoulder strap), and a double jogger for walks - I'd never bring it to WDW on the busses. We did rent in WDW everyday, but I had 2 four year olds, plus 1 six year old, and wanted something the 3 of them could fit in.

Well after reading everything here i decided to go out and get a maclaren side by side, easy fold. its smaller then my single folded up. Since I am a big man 6'4" 350 lbs I take up a lot of room on the buses anyway so the added room of the stroller isn't going to cause me any headaches. Wish me luck
