Bus transportation is terrible!

I don't think this is true at all. Actually, I think it's the opposite. The worst bus service ever is the Epcot resorts....they all share! So when you get on at the Boardwalk, you have to go to the Swan, Dolphin then Yacht/Beach! Horrible!!!!!! Takes forever!
I wouldn't know about that, normally we go to the parks and then back to the resort at the end of the day, we don't park hop, so even from epcot we would go straight back to the resort.

I have a love hate relationship with disney buses. We've had really good and really bad luck at all ranges of resorts. Its ridiculous to wait more than 20 minutes for a bus. I don't understand why they can't/won't get it together. We waited well over 30 minutes to get a bus back to CSR from MK last month and the line was flowing out into the walkways behind us. We watched empty buses pull up to empty bus lines over and over then pull off and double buses parking it for the night. It's frustraiting. I know theyre just following orders but geeze. Then when you finally get a bus you're packed in like livestock.

I hope one day they make the bus situation better. Till then I'll grin and bare it.

BW has its own bus to MK now, before that I shared with Swan and Dolphin. It's been a long time since all 5.

If people don't like the bus system, rent a car. You are paying thousands of dollars for your trip, what's a few hundred dollars for a rental car? Why get aggravated when a rental car is an easy fix?

a few hundred dollars can make or break a trip. for many people

Maybe not everyone drives, but the majority of the people complaining, do drive.

there are many reasons why people don't want to drive (or can't). if you drove all the way to florida from thousands of miles away (used to be us) you don't want to touch the car while you're there.

some people can't see as well as they did when they were younger.

many people are uncomfortable driving in the dark, esp, on roads they are not familiar with.

many people would like to enjoy their vacation with an adult beverage or 2.

We landed back in the UK this morning, stayed in All Star Sports from 27th September onwards. Our 'bus luck' wasn't too bad this time around. We only had a long wait on a couple of occasions. Disney Springs being by far the worst, theme park wise it wasn't bad at all. We've certainly had it worse.

I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but the people I feel sorry for are the people over at Pop Century. I'm sure every time I saw their queue at MK it was always the longest queue by far. Never any other resort, always theirs. I remember thinking "That was us a few years ago" :rotfl:

FYI if there is a shorter line at the AOA bus, go over there, then when you get to AOA, walk over the bridge to pop.

That's good news!! It's been a couple of trips since we stayed there, but for awhile it was the go to resort for us. We started getting a car, simply because we couldn't believe how long it took to get anywhere from there with the buses. I was surprised they shared. Good to know it's gotten better.

We were there last week as well and has terrible experiences with the buses. Usually at least 30-40 minute wait, very long lines for buses, both leaving resorts and also leaving parks. Different days, different times of day, all busy. Very different from other visits. We did stay at the carribbean beach this time and it's such a huge resort, so many guests at their bus stops, maybe that affected our trip badly.

Hello Keli:

I do beg your pardon that I am not responding to this thread at all but the photo of you and spouse is lovely and absolutely hilarious! Here's to marriage. God love ya! lol. :flower:

Really? Not that we may be staying deluxe again any time soon, but we hope to return to the Epcot area resorts at some point. We stayed at BWI last year and BC the year before and the majority of both trips were shared with all 5 resorts. I think at BWI MK skipped Swan and Dolphin but still went to YC and BC (or maybe that was reverse) but we always shared with other resorts.

That said I still thought the bus service was good, but anything to shorten those trips further would be a plus. Especially no sharing at all to MK. That would be awesome.

I don't think the buses are terrible but they also aren't necessarily the quickest way to get anywhere either. If you don't want to deal with the hassle you can always rent a car. Driving around WDW is easy and all the roads are well signed.

If I were going during peak season (and I don't ever see myself doing that) I would probably rent a car even if staying on site. At busy times the buses can make for a long trip everywhere.

We use the buses, and occasionally take taxis. The combo works well for us.

We were there 10/11 and 10/12 and never waited more than a few minutes for a bus, including Disney Springs. We did notice a lot of road construction not limited to just the Disney Springs area which slowed traffic. I am not convinced that driving or taking a cab will save that much time. Traffic patterns are also a moving target with all the construction so if you drive, getting lost is not difficult.

The only time we worry about timing with buses is when we have a dinner reservation at a resort. Even then, we just plan a 90 minute commute - no bus goes directly to resort. We usually just wait for whichever park bus comes first, hop on it, and then get the hotel bus we are visiting from there. Takes time, but it is what it is.

If we are running late, or just don't feel like the long commute, we take a cab! :)

People get all hot under the collar over being bumped with back packs or strollers when these things are inevitable on a crowded bus. .
Agree with most your post except this section. There is no excuse for an unsecured stroller on a bus!

Now maybe we are imagining different scenarios.

A number of times we've seen WAY too many inconsiderate folks too lazy to secure their stroller. They just left their (usually very large) stroller near the rear door to roll around every time the bus turned. It hurts to have one of the knobs on a stroller ram full speed into your side! Worse when it hits a CHILD!

Backpack concussion!

I suffered a concussion when an inconsiderate idiot whacked me full in the FACE with his backpack!

One second I was fine, the next, I was doubled over in pain! I was instantly nauseated, dizzy, and had a lump forming on my face! The idiot didn't even stop. He just mumbled, "sorry" as he walked away. It was pretty bad.

Sorry to hear that, I sometimes think it is all in the timing. We were there Sept 8 thru the 22, relied on Disney transportation the whole time. We stayed at Coronado and it was fabulous. I think the longest we waited for a bus was one morning for Magic Kingdom, we were running a little late and knew that it was going to be busy. That said, I think we waited like 25 minutes. Other times, we hit it just right, even leaving at night. I have no desire to drive a car at Disney, that is one of the things I am avoiding while being there!

Yeah We've done that before. It's a nice walk too going over the bridge in the evening.
We haven't done AoA to Pop specifically, but we have done others.

The 3 All Start resorts are much closer together than they look.

We've also done other combos, like taking HS boat to the Swan and walking from there. Then again, if it is nice, the quickest option is often just to walk the whole distance (if going HS to BC/YC/BWK/Epcot)

If you are going to CR, it is easy to take any MK-bound bus and walk to CR. If going from MK to CR, it is a slight toss up, but often faster to walk.

At the US deluxe resorts, walking between the hotels and the park is easy. The boats also run frequently.

The walk from the TTC to GF is a ways. It takes a solid 20minutes at a good pace. When last we did it, there was no path. I read now there is now a path, but have not confirmed.
