We were thinking of booking Chef Mickey's for our first night. We would have to book a late dinner (7:30ish) but MK closes at 7 due to Grad Nite. When I checked how to get from point A (Port Orleans Riverside) to point B (Contemporary), it said we should take the bus to MK and then transfer to the Contemporary bus from there (35 minutes). It also said we could go to MGM and transfer there but it would be 43 minutes. So, can we still do that even though MK will be closed? And MGM closes at 8:30 that night so it, too, will be closed when we are finished with our meal and need to get back to POR. Will we be stranded??? :guilty:

Hi and welcome to the DIS!

Using WDW transportation, you can take a bus from the CR to Downtown Disney, then transfer to one to POR.

More easily, you can take a taxi from CR to POR. It will run you about $10-$15, but it will get you back in about 15 minutes.

I believe though that the buses will keep running through Grad Night for any grads that might actually be staying the in resorts. A cab will be faster in any case, but that should be an option. Even in the worst case, buses run usually 2 hours after closing time.

You have many options, depending on what buses are running:

POR to MK, (note there is no Contemprary bus to/from MK - only the monorail or 10 minute walk).

POR to DTD, DTD to Contemporary

POR to TTC, walk to Poly, Monorail to Contemporary

You definitely will NOT be stranded - Disney Transportation is excellent!

Buses will still be running from Magic Kingdom (MK) to Port Orleans Riverside (POR), so it would just be a matter of how to get back to the MK bus lot (Which is basically right in front of the entrance to the MK). From the Contemporary, you can easily walk to the bus station - or take the Monorail around! Then you get to hear "Por favor..."

Another option would be to go to Downtown Disney (DTD) - and then switching to the POR bus - and POR is a DTD Resort, so it is fairly close from there! (Not close enough to walk, but a fairly short bus trip!)

And if you are really worried, there are always Taxis at the resorts, so you can always fall back on that as a last resort! (But we have been Numerous times & have always managed to get from Point A to Point B! Even if we had to go to C, D & E on the way!)

There is an entire Transportation Board on the Dis Home page too - so you might want to check that Board out for any other specific questions!

You can take the MK bus from POR, and then walk via the pathway over to Chef Mickeys...about 8 minutes, or take the monorail. After dinner, you can either walk back over to the MK, (when you take the bus over to MK, ask the driver when the buses back to POR will be stopping) and then take a bus back to POR. Or you could take the DTD bus from CR, and then do one of two things...either take the POR bus from there, or you could take the boat that goes to POR. It's very relaxing and might be still running when you get to DTD. You should be able to get an operating schedule at POR.

Remember once in DTD you can also take the boat back to POR.
This is a nice enjoyable ride that takes about 20 min.

Have fun!!
