Bus service from WL to MK?

I know I read on this board a few weeks ago that they had started bus service directly to MK from the WL. Is this still true?

Not sure about bus service but there is a boat between WL and MK with a stop at CR along the way. HTH

Yes there is a direct bus from Wilderness Lodge to the MK, the old route is still operational after MK closes.

So, the test route is finally happening. As of Tuesday March 8th, 2005, the following changes will be made to the Fort Wilderness & Wilderness Lodge transportation lineup:

1.) There will no longer be service to/from the Transportation & Ticket Center to the Wilderness Lodge/Fort Wilderness. The bus will still go from Fort Wilderness to Wilderness Lodge and back, but it will not be going to the TTC anymore.

2.) From Wilderness Lodge only, there will be a DIRECT bus to the Magic Kingdom. This bus will run about every 15 minutes during normal MK bus service hours.

Boat service will not change.


As with all test routes, THIS INFORMATION IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT.

Would it be quicker/easier to take the direct bus to MK and then transfer there for MGM, Epcot, and AK? Would that be the most direct and quickest route? Also, can't you get buses to all the hotels from MK (i.e. for PS at other resorts?)

The fastest and most direct way to get to Epcot, Studios, DTD, and DAK, is to take the direct buses from the WL itself. No need to go anywhere else.

Yes, there are resort buses at the MK. Since the MK is only 5 minutes away, it makes a great connection point.

We just returned from our stay at VWL. The bus service was "HORRIBLE". The only bus that you could rely on was the Animal Kingdom bus and that was probably because WL shared it with GF. We will stick with OKW from now on. We never had a problem with their busses.

After leaving Mk we decided to use BW bus to go eat at ESPN Club. When taking the bus back to MK to our great surprise the bus was next to BW's stop and it was there waiting. It was much quicker than using the boat. I love the boat but in the morning I think the bus is better since the boat stops at FW before heading over to WL. One morning we had to wait 3 boats before we were able to get on. One time only 8 people from WL were able to board because the boat was already packed. People were taking the boat to CR and walking from there.

I think he lost you with the bus waiting at MK. I believe DisneyWisher meant to say that the bus to WL was waiting at MK when they returned from BW/ESPN Club. And that the bus was faster than the boat back and forth from WL/FW to MK.

Have now heard from several folks who have actually taken the WL-MK bus -- so it is running. Reports are there is "a brown paper bag" over the sign that used to say: "Ticket & Transportation Center." So bus no longer goes from WL to TTC. Had one report that after MK closes, bus does run from TTC back to WL. Apparently this is all an experiment. Would be interested to hear from those who have used bus from MK to WL after Wishes. Wonder if it's faster than the boat?

What made it horrible??? Were the waiting times long??? Were the buses already full so you had to wait for another? Have you taken bus svc from other hotels?

We are staying at WL for the 1st time the end of April and I'm getting more concerned about their transportation. Beginning to sound like the best altenative is to take a boat to CR and walk to MK. But I had really been looking forward to the direct bus. Anyone have more to say on this?

ms.ojo: As I observe on these sites WDW's greatest critics are also the greatest fans. Don't take us all too seriously! We stay one-month a year at WL. If the boats are running properly it is a real joy to hop on & go to MK. Our grandchildren adore the boats. Bus service for the entire month of January was excellent. For those of us who know Wl, there is a new wrinkle re. bus service. If the "experiment" is still in place while you're there, you will be able to take a bus directly from WL to MK -- this is new. Your best way to go to MGM, AK, Epcot, DTD, water parks will be the buses. We have stayed at AS, Pop & several other off-Monorail resorts. Bus service IOP from Wl is better than from most. With both the boat & bus running to MK, transportation to MK should be excellent from WL -- maybe best connection to MK of any resort at WDW. Enjoy!
