I was wondering if Ya'll could help me out. I was wondering how the bus service is from OKW to the parks? I am thinking of staying there but have read a couple of negative's on the service. So any input would be great. Thanks

The bus service is comparable to bus service from any other WDW resort.

Pam is right. And at least you don't have to share the bus with another resort so no extra stops. We've rarely had problems with the buses at OKW.

We used the OKW busses this past Nov and never had more than a 10-15 min wait. In the past, we've used our car 50% of the time while staying at OKW, but things were running so smoothly in Nov, that we just stuck with the busses. Have a great time at OKW if you decide to stay there !

We just came back from a trip to OKW at the end of January and had no problems with the bus service. We absolutely fell in love with OKW -- hope you have a wonderful trip.

We've always used the busses whenever we stay at OKW and have not had any major problems. Mostly, no more that 10 min. wait to go to parks and 10 - 15 min. waits to return. They can get crowded, depending on time of year - or time of day.
I like the convenience of parking the car and not using it again until we head home.
Enjoy your stay.

We rode the buses to and from OKW Mardi Gras week and had no complaints.
Especially going to MK they were a lifesaver. We never waited more than 15 minutes, usually it was much less. Only once during five days in the parks, (and we left the parks for a rest and returned each evening) did we fail to have seats on the bus.

I haven't stayed at any other onsite resorts, but our experience was much better than driving and parking on our previous trips.

The only thing different from OKW busing and busing from/to anywhere else on property (that I'm familar with) is that OKW an "internal" bus which basically stops at all bus stops within the resort then goes to DTD and repeats. At any of the bus stops, you can get a bus going to anywhere. Any bus returning from another Disney stop will cycle thur the various bus stops. In general if your room is located near the Hospitality House, then just walk to the bell service desk area- where buses will stop. I have always found it very adequate, and easy, because if you don't have a car, and want to go to Olivia's or the general store, just hop any bus (their last stop is at HH)

I take the bus to MK all the time. I prefer not to ride city buses so I take the car to the other parks. I had some real bad experiences with buses over the years, saw people expode at the bus driver because the bus did not come for close to one hour-that was at MGM, never forget that. I had another situation where the customer was so angry at the bus driver that the bus driver shut the bus door on him leaving his kid on the bus. I don't beleive in going through that again on vacation. I would recommend that you think twice about taking the bus to animal kingdom, even on a good day that is a milk run. Having said that I agree with PAMOKW they are about like they are at every resort. I just can get around a lot faster and more comfortablely with my car. I haven't seen the front of EPCOT since they took the DVC bus stop away from us there, that was about 8 years ago.

Thanks for all the input everyone. You have really been helpfull. I have only been to WDW once before, and our next trip will be in Dec. We have ressies at Our home SSR but are thinking of trying to switch to another "home" But with all the nice comments on SSR it is making it hard. Plus we will have a lot more oppertunities toi visit all the resorts. Again thanks for your input it's been great.

 No problems with the bus service, and be sure to take the boat service to Downtown Disney........That's lots of fun!
Have a magical trip!

The bus is especially efficient to the MK as it parks close to the gate. We have had no problems with transporation and we have stayed at OKW frequently in the past 3 years. We take the buses to the parks and we drive to the other resorts.

We have not had major problems with the OKW buses ever! The first year we were members, it was long waits on both ends, but since then, we have had great service. We rarely wait, and at most it might be 10 minutes. So much easier than coming in from the parking lot at the parks, or having to take that stupid tram!

Pa, why do you think the OKW bus stop is too far at Epcot? OKW has had one of the closer bus stops there for at least 3 years now. I like that it can be seen almost as soon as you come out the gate, so if the bus is there, you know if you have to hurry or not! The only one that is a bit of a hike is the one at Animal Kingdom, and all the buses are far away there.

The last time I took a bus to EPCOT they moved the bus stop to out in the parking lot in the sun with the exhaust from the buses in your face. This was about 8 years ago that was one of many things I went over the top on with management down there. I did not know the bus stop was so close to the entrance now because I never go there via bus. Maybe I will give it a try!! I like the International Gateway Entrance however. :)

Totally agree that the OKW bus service is basically the the same as the bus service from all the other WDW resorts. The problem is, this is............the ONLY method of transport to the 4 parks, from the OKW resort-- other than driving ???? Hello, ........this is suposed to be a high end WDW resort????????
