New to DIS and old to DVC and I have a few questions regarding bus service.

I know that when we joined BWV in 98, the bus service at OKW wasn't that great. At that time, the bus service to parks wasn't as frequent as the other combo resorts like BW. Is this still the case? We have a quicky trip coming up at SSR and I'm trying to get an estimate of wait times and bus schedules.

Thanks everyone!

BTW- there was a 1br open for 9/30-10/3 at VWL as of this morning.

we had a wonderful experience at OKW - the bus actually waited for us.

we were the only ones going to that park at that time.

SSR the problem I had was one bus for a ton of people. with old key west maybe each bus stop will serve 10 building. At SSR it is more plus these building go up to 4 or 5 floors - so alot more people for each bus.

the longest wait I had was DD - then I learned the path and just walked it.

remember however SSR is a big resort. the bus makes multiply stops and it is a long wait to the front exit.

so be prepared at SSR to wait. you will do fine!

Haven't tried SSR.

WE always drive and have a car. A few weeks ago we were at OKW no car and had to use transportation. It was great!!
The only suggestion I would give you is that if you are staying in a bldg. on the Olivia's side of the resort is to get OFF the bus at the first stop and walk over the bridge. The bus tours the OKW property with the bus stops towards the front of the resort and the HH last. This works well for taking the bus to the parks because we got on at the HH and then went to MK. Coming home we were last off the bus.

We just came back in August from our first DVC trip and we stayed at OKW. The one thing that we were very disappointed about with the resort was the buses. Our average wait to and from the park was about 20 minutes. There were a few times when I saw every other resort bus come by before ours did.

Another thing is that the internal shuttle is pretty nonexistant. If you're not near the hospitality house and you don't want to walk to it, take the first bus that comes to your bus stop and get off at hospitality house, since it's the last stop. Going back, walk right over to the bus stop closest to the hospitality house (Peninsular I think), since it's the first stop and take the first bus over to your bus stop.

ANY bus IS an internal bus. All buses stop at HH before exiting the property. Also, most do not realize that the internal bus labled Downtown Disney on its way out.

Waiting for a bus to pick you up from the parks back to the resort, can indeed take a bit longer. Mostly that's because you are going back later in the day when buses are on a longer schedule because fewer people use them. We wouldn't want them running un-needed buses for 1-2 people as that would make the dues increase. I count the bus service by how long I want when I am at the resort and heading to a park. I doubt we have ever waited more than 10 minutes more than a few times.
