On Saturday 8/19 My Family and I were leaving Animal Kingdom heading to Port Orleans Resort at 4:00 in the Afternoon. The Heat index was 105 As soon as we left the park the AC stopped working. The bus was full to capacity the isle was full of standing people. We were squished in actually touching each other.
This was a dangerous situation. You would not leave a dog shut up in a car with no open windows and and the driver just kept going. I am a person who can take the heat and I was bothered by this. I actually had sweat all over me which has never happened before. I didn't even know I could sweat My poor cousin was sweating so bad it ran into her contact lenses and was burning her eyes and she could not see very well. The stench was HORRIBLE! We passed pop century and I am sure several more places but it was hard to see out the windows because the there were so many people standing including myself. I don't understand why the driver did not pull over and call for a new bus. There was air quality was terrible. When we finally made it to our resort. It actually felt like a cold blast of air when we exited the bus. We went in the lobby to report this to a manager. We were told they would address it whatever that meant. They did give us 3 fast passes. This was very scary. If it was any longer someone would have been in trouble. I was wearing my fitbit and my heart rate is usually 55-68 It read 139. I was surprised they continued to drive and did nothing about this situation. Has this happened to anyone else? The next bus ride we took we joked that we had post traumatic bus stress. It did feel like that until we got on a nice cool bus then all was well.

That stinks but from what you said the AC was working when the bus left the park. It was going to a hotel. If the bus driver had stopped or turned around it would have taken just as long or longer then proceeding to hotel and dropping his passengers. Stopping on the roads could have been dangerous for the passengers and the other people on the road. You don't know that the driver didn't do anything. He could have called base and was told to drop passengers and take the bus out of service. Unfortunately, mechanical things sometimes break. It is hot in Florida in August.

Pulling over and waiting would have made it all infinitely worse. I promise you.

That driver did exactly what he should have done. He got you to your resort safely and as fast as possible, without stopping the bus for who knows how long.

Yep, I agree the bus driver did exactly what he should have and they probably took the bus out of service. Just as an aside, I live in Georgia where the University of Georgia is located. My son is a student there and frequently takes the campus buses, some do not have AC and are almost always packed just like the Disney buses are. It is just as hot here. They do have windows that open but I'm not sure it would help anyone except possibly the person sitting right in front of them. I do think they pack those buses a little tighter than they should but it is a no win situation for them. If they let less people on, you are going to get just as many complaints about people having to wait for a bus.

Did the driver load guests once you arrived at PO? If so, do you know which location they were going?

I will say that once the bus is loaded, especially for a 15-25 minute ride, it is safest to continue to your destination unless you have a mechanical issue. Even if you had stopped at a different resort and another bus was called, it would likely have been at least 30 or more additional minutes before you got to PO. The bus should have been taken out of rotation so if they loaded guests after, that could be an issue.

Were there any intermediate locations where the bus could be stopped and unloaded? For example at the McDonalds outside the All Star resorts if not All Star Sports?

Wow you guys are not making sense. Have you ever been in your car with the windows rolled up on a day with where the heat index is 105? for 25 mins. I am sure you would not attempt it. How can that be the best option. I don't care if it took 30 more minutes for a new bus to come. The driver should have pulled off into the pop century let us off the bus and called for a new bus. We needed to get out. If you think it is so easy go ahead and try it. I don't even use the AC in may car I have the windows open I can take heat this was dangerous!!!

I think I would have preferred the driver change his course and get to an appropriate drop off as quickly as possible - the nearest possible cool location (DS, TnT, any other resort or park) would have been welcome from my perspective. Heat exhaustion is dangerous.

Depending on the route the bus took, the driver could have stopped at DHS or EC.

Googlemaps does show the route (three of them) as taking 13 minutes. I find it hard to believe the AC was out for 25 minutes if the AC was running as the bus left.

Did the driver tell you that the A/C broke down or did you assume it broke down ?

Could you have opened a window ?

Did you or any other passenger talk to & point out to the driver how uncomfortable the journey was ?

Did the Driver communicate over the Speaker System to you .. the passengers & give you Info ?

I was near the back of the bus. I did not hear the driver say anything. Someone from up front said the AC was broken and passed it down. The windows did not open. There was a women and a baby sitting near where I was standing. The baby seemed ok but the mother did not look good and seemed like she was going to pass out.i heard a couple people yell "let us out". As far as I know we all survived without damage. I was just surprised that Disney would risk it and not keep us informed either. The AC cut out Just as we left maybe the driver thought it would come back on.

If they stopped at pop they couldn't get you to po in any easy way. Just getting you to your destination was good. They couldn't have just stopped on the road. Any stops would have delayed you all.

Ny dad was a greyhound driver and if he became a Disney driver he would have done the same thing.

Ok so you think we were worried about a delay???? When you are in a dangerous situation with people ready to drop and some about to panic we are going to worry about a delay rather than making it off the bus safely . You have no idea because you were not there. This was not about a little heat this was a dangerous situation.

I'm surprised the bus was that full at 4:00! How long did you wait for the bus to get there? Must have been awhile if there were that many other guests on the bus. That's park closing full!!!
Should the driver have pulled over? No. The ride from AK to PO is about 18 mins. If he had gone to another park, it would have cut about 3 mins off the time on the bus. Do you think the driver was comfortable? I doubt it. He/she was just as miserable as you were. I've been on a bus without A/C..it isn't pretty. But although the bus was going from DS to All Star Movies, we made it. We weren't happy about it, but it happens.
I'm sorry you all had to go through this. Perhaps an email to Disney will help prevent it from happening in the future.

It's too bad you aren't understanding that we BOTH read your words and understood them AND feel that the bus driver did a good job.trust in your writing. You painted the picture. We get that it was gross.

And yes. If you were dropped off at another resort you would have been worried about the delay and how on earth to get to your resort.

I've seen the bus windows open.

You were in the back and have NO idea what was going on up front apart from one game of "telephone".

I have been on busses when extended family have split apart. The front people can hear the driver fine while the back people don't even know the driver is talking.
