We are driving down and staying at POR. We are staying for 6 days and going to all 4 parks. I've been wondering if we would be better of driving to each park each day or using the buses? Mostly, except for the day we are going to Epcot, all our trips should be resort to park and back. When we do Epcot we have dinner plans at Chef Mickey (so I understand it may be a hassle to use Disney transportation to get from Contemporary back to POR).

You'll get two very passionate types of answers here.....yes, use your car. It's the only way to go. You don't have to wait for buses, you can come and go as you like. It's much faster.
Or....
Use the buses. Disney transportation is the best. You're on vacation...leave the driving to Disney. You get closer to the front of the park, especially if you're at MK, when you take the bus.

So....which to do? Up to you. I have no issue with the buses. And when I'm at the CR and need to get back to my resort, I just walk over to the MK and hop on my resort bus there...it takes less than 10 mins to walk.
Is it quicker to take your car? Probably. Especially if it's early in the day...parking spaces will be closer to the park entrance. But, there are a lot of not so knowledgeable drivers out there....it sometimes makes driving around the WDW area an adventure. A lot of people really aren't sure of where they're going so make last minute lane changes...which is something to see when there's a Disney bus beside them!!!

I preface this by saying I love the monorail so if it were me, I'd take the bus to Epcot, monorails (2) to CR & walk back to MK to catch the POR bus. Many will say that's too much but we've always used the travel time to relax a little. And I LOVE the monorail!!!

From a pure time perspective, on average, the bus will be quicker to Magic Kingdom, but slower to the other parks.

For your Epcot/Chef Mickey day, You could take the Monorail from Epcot, transfer at the TTC, and take the resort Monorail to the Contemporary. From there, you could walk over to the Magic Kingdom and catch a bus back to POR. Or you could drive.

I like this idea to get from Epcot to Contemporary, plus we MIGHT go back to Epcot after dinner to see Illuminations so I really like this.

In general I think we will end up using Disney transportation, it just sounds like you are always having to wait in lines to get around.

Well, once you step outside your resort room you spend most of your time in one line or another anyway. :upsidedow
