Bus or Drive to Magic Kingdom

Also keep in mind that if you valet park at one of the monorail resorts that the monorails are down for several hours a day right now. So you would have to walk to the contemporary or wait for a bus for the grand flo or take a bus or boat to the poly anyway. Just take the bus from your resort.

I can see driving being an advantage if say, we wanted to have breakfast at a resort (e.g. Chef Mickeys at Contemporary) and then head to Magic Kingdom afterwards,, no???

Yes, but keep in mind that you'll have to pay for valet parking if you want to leave your car at a resort while you're at the park.

You are expected to move your car after you eat, unless you valet park. Leaving your car, at a resort you are not staying at, and going to a park, is frowned upon. There is signage to that effect at busy times a year.

We have always driven. Like others have said it's fun to approach from the ferry or monorail and we have timed our exits a couple of times so we could watch the fireworks while on the boat or at the landing on the TTC side. We're staying at FW for the first time this trip coming up and may try the boat.

I prefer to drive everywhere and spend the least amount of time on crowded transportation with other people as possible, especially at the end of the day when there are a lot of tired/whiny kids (and adults!).

The ferry affords a very exciting view of the castle coming into view, however, it is much slower than the monorail (at least in my experience).

OP, please also note that you cannot park your car at a resort all day unless you're valet parking. But, that may be an excellent option for you, particularly at the Contemporary. You can walk to MK from there.

:thumbsup2 it's a luxury I budget for on WDW vacations.
