We have annual passes and will be staying off site. My husband will be working so he will drop us off but then will have to go and travel around Florida for work. Our hotel is near downtown disney. Are there busses that run from Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom to Downtown Disney or do I have to go to a resort first? Thank you!!

If he is going to drop you off, it would be easier for you if he dropped you at the closest park or closest WDW resort. There are some WDW resorts in the DTD area.

He will drop us off at a park in the morning so we just have to get back to the hotel (Hilton lake buena vista)

I've stayed there for a convention. The hotel has theme park shuttle buses, so you can check the schedule at the front desk, but they do have buses that run from the hotel to the theme parks and back.

Also to avoid a timed schedule, I just took a bus to one of the resorts and got on the DTD bus from there. Port Orleans and SSR are very close to DTD and if I remember correctly there was boat service from PO to DTD.

The Hilton lake buena vista has a shuttle that goes to the parks. You just need to find where it picks up.

You will have to go to a resort first

Didn't the new bus stop expansion at MK provide new routes including direct service to DTD? Or is that not done yet?

Take caution with the boat route from Port Orleans... It's relatively slow and you'll often have to wait for multiple boats to load before you get on one - depending on the time of day

The bus expansion at MK was for the extended buses that service the value resorts. From what I've read, Disney will not run buses from DTD to the parks because people will park at DTD for free and then just take the buses.

Did not and likely never will. Buses between the theme parks and DTD were stopped several years ago in an effort to deter people from parking there free to avoid paying at the parks.

When you're ready to go back to DTD, from a park, just take a bus to a resort (Pop is a good one) and transfer to the DTD bus from there. You could also take the bus to SSR and walk but that's going to be a longish walk. You could go to POR, POFQ, or OKW and take their boat back to DTD.

The only park that has had service to DTD was AK. But...that was only later afternoon to park closing. That service has been discontinued as it was only a test at the time.
Disney hasn't felt the need to provide buses to, and from, the parks at DTD. There is little need. If they did provide buses for this purpose, parking at DTD would be truly clogged. People, staying off-site, would park there and take buses to the parks. Parking is already not so wonderful at DTD....allowing park access would merely exacerbate the issue.

Thank you everyone. Just to be clear I'm not parking at dtd I just won't have a car. I will either go to a resort first or try the lynx bus from ttc.

But why? The Hotel Plaza Boulevard properties provide regularly scheduled shuttles to all the parks, every thirty minutes, all day. They drop off and pick up in the same part of the parking lot as the Lynx bus, but (a) they're free to you as an HPB guest, and (b) there's a route for each park.

Oh fantastic! I had tried to find the shuttle schedule online and had thought they only ran a couple of times a day. Thanks!!

Yep. You should be good. You'll have the Hilton's shuttles plus the previously mentioned alternative to SSR or Port Orleans as a hop-a-long to DtD.
