Bus from MGM to Allstar resort took 1hr 45 min

On the note of 'rip off cabs' my SIL and FIL got a cab to Epcot from a non-Disney hotel and they were charged the parking entrance fee  to get into Epcot! (this was not a 'yellow cab' I think one of the white town cars) The total fare was doubled because of this!

As people have said go for a 'yellow cab' and if in doubt go to a resort and get them to call you one (we found there was usually one waiting)

We made that mistake one time about the white town cars. Spoke to the valet back at our hotel and he stated "always use a yellow cab." We also always use the taxi's when the bus lines are long or have to travel from resort to resort.

I was at the Allstar Music from 12/7-12/12, this is my third stay at this resort and the worst bus service ever. We were there in October and had no real issues.
But this visit it was terrible, crowded buses, waiting well over 20 minutes at some of the parks as well as at the resort...not all the time mind you but enough to make it annoying.
Coming back from MGM and AK was horrible because they only have one bus stop for all three resorts and as near as I could tell all 3 resorts were close to capacity if not booked completely. Epcot had 3 stops when the park closed but the rest of the time there was only one.
I spoke to a gentleman who had been to MGM on an EMH night(12/9) and he said the line was all the way down the walk way.
Only have one bus for those parks really made it diffcult to get off the bus at your resort. Alot of people were standing, so trying to get off was tough, and on top of that you had more people getting on because the bus was going back to a park.
I took an exit survey on my last day and I commmented on the bus system. The obviously are aware of the problems because some of the items to check were the trip to the parks, the trips back from the parks and the fact that the bus stops are not covered.
The only park that I had not complaints going to or from was the MK and I was there 2 nights when the park closed. Each Allstar had its own stop and the buses came rather quickly.
I think I will try another resort during my December stay next year.

We just got back and were also at MGM on 12/10. The lines were terrible to leave. We have a great grandmother in an ECV so they told us to get on the bus but I felt so guilty because so many people were already waiting. It does take a long time to load them and I wish Disney had buses just for those so it would not hold other people up. We were on the Poly bus and I don't know any other way to get back and forth with the ECV. We stayed at Poly so we could use the monorail for everthing else without inconveniencing other people but I guess it is policy to take the wheelchairs no matter how many people were waiting. I didn't think quick enough on my toes or I would have just said we would take a bus later but I was so shocked when he said to get on and there are so many people staring I didn't want to hold up anything any longer. Especially since the driver automatically sets the bus up for the wheelchairs before he opens the doors to talk to you. I plan on commenting to Disney about the ECV because it makes you feel bad when you hold up everyone else.

We didn't get in the line--we hopped on the bus to Coronado Springs-then hopped on the Downtown Disney bus which turned into the Allstar bus
Well ... no wonder it took you almost 2 hours! CSR to DTD to the All Stars? I would have just stayed in line. The value resort lines are always long at park closing because the value resorts house so many people. Disney will usually load 2 and even 3 buses at once to an All Stars or Pop resort at the end of the day. I bet the people who got in line were home a lot sooner than you were!

I agree. I think the title of this thread needs to be changed since you did not board the All Star Bus at the MGM park. Anytime you need to reroute and take 3 different buses it is going to take longer than if you stayed in line.

The values often send buses one right after the othe and sometimes even load 2 buses at a time during park closing time when the lines are long.

I hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay.

No, we arrived at Music before most of those in the line at MGM--we just could not fathom standing in that line--the time frame to get back was for those in that line--at least we were moving & we also had a seat for the ride home--:santa:

I stayed at the Pop Century from 12/8 - 12/15 and found the bus service to be amazing. We never waited more than 15 minutes but I will say we did try to leave parks just prior to the masses.

The only morning I was concerned was the Thursday I was there when we were heading to Animal Kingdom. The line seemed incredibly long but 5 minutes after the first bus pulled up a second pulled in also and we were on our way.

I think a lot of my luck had to do with trying to figure out when lines would be long. While at MGM one night to see the lights we make sure to leave just as Fantasmic was ending.

It's OK that you chose not to stand in line and took a different route. However, I'm curious about how you know how long it took for folks who did get in line.

My experience with the Value resorts is that while the lines are very long they are allocated many more buses than the other resorts. The line moves quickly as the buses are loaded up and a new one(s) arrives shortly. A long line does not mean a long wait. The longest bus live I have even been in was at the MK for Pop. The line filled the queue and snaked down past the All Stars line. It only took about 30 minutes for me to get on a bus. I've waited longer for an OKW or BWV bus!

Another family in our party was in that line it took over 1hr 45min for them to get back--they said no bus came for over an hour while in that line--there was some kind of problem that nite--we chose to take the round about way back just so we didn't have to stand that long--it was an unacceptable situation
