Bus from DTD to directly to AKL?

Can we catch a bus from DTD back to AKL in the evening? Can you take a bus from MGM to DTD as well?
I'm planning on us going to DTD after Fantasmic to get some dessert at Ghiradelli's & wanted to make sure we could get direct bussing to DTD from MGM & then DTD back to AKL. We don't want to have to travel to other locations in order to catch the correct bus. Our DS2 will get too ansty.

DTD to AKL..Yes

MGM to DTD..No

Your best bet is to walk or take the boat from MGM to the boardwalk and catch a bus at one of the resorts, Beach Club, Yacht Club or BW.

I agree with keliblue, that is the best route. The buses from DTD run at the Market place until midnight and from Pleasure Island until 2 AM, so if you miss the bus at the Marketplace, you can still catch one at Pleasure Island.

On our trip, we were told that there was transportation to and from Downtown Disney to resorts only. Apparently people were parking at DD and taking Disney tranportation to MK and Mickey wasn't getting his parking cut

The was told to us by a CM at the MK

the offsite places started just sending their buses to the DTD - which means they were NOT paying.

and telling them to ride the WDW buses to the parks.

So the WDW buses to the parks from DTD were instantly overloaded. It is hard to get more buses on an unpaid route.

So disney did away with a direct bus to DTD from any of the theme parks.

so it was not the people who park there - but the offsite buses that were the main problem and the reason of the change in policy.
