So we are going to go the Lynx bus route for our transportation to Sea World from Disney. I think I've gathered up all the necessary info that I can find, but I always find personal experiences/advice more helpful. Especially since we are from the rural northwest and I've NEVER- repeat- NEVER ridden on a public bus system. I even watched the video on the Lynx site for how to pay for your fare. ;)

So anyway, for those who've done the bus option to get to Sea World, I'd love all the tips you can give me!!

We've used the Lynx bus to SW! It worked very well....well, sort of. We made the mistake of not telling the driver we wanted to get off at SW. So, he drove by the drop off spot! There was another family that made the same mistake. We just had to walk a bit further!
The bus was fine. We got it at the TTC. Mostly it was CMs going home. We felt very safe. I do suggest having exact change....carry dollar bills and quarters....I can't remember what the fare is now. It was $1.25 pp each way when we used it.
So, the bus should drop you at he entrance to the parking lot. Cross the lot and you're at the front gates. When it's time to head out, retrace your steps back across the parking lot. Then cross the street. The bus stop, when we used it, was a short walk down to the left. Very easy to find. Check the timetable to see what times the bus back to WDW stops.

We took the Lynx bus once to Universal and I swore never again, it sooo long! It stops (it seemed) like every block. We left the TTC at 8:00am and didn't get to USO until 11:00am, we called Mears to come back, it was so worth it. There wasn't even a lot of traffic. This was in 2003 but I'll never forget it. I know you asked about SW but I think its the same area. Ever since then we take the Mears van, it was $12 r/t and so worth it. Just our experience. HTH! Good luck. :)

Wow, that is definitely the longest I've read so far! I don't blame you for not wanting to repeat that!!

We considered other forms of transportation but there are 6 of us and 3 that would have to be in carseats or boosters so that makes things a lot more complicated, otherwise I think we would have chosen an alternate option.

Thanks! I believe it is $2 per person now, so much easier to make exact change for that. I appreciate all the advice!

Our bus never stopped once we left TTC. It took us about 35 mins to get to SW....got there just after park opening. The Lynx bus to Universal is much more convoluted! Very few people here would ever recommend taking the bus there!
Most use Mears to get to, and from, US/IoA and WDW. Much more efficient.

Loved it. We had breakfast at Kona Cafe and walked to the Lynx stop at TTC (gotta work off those macadamia nut pancakes!!). Then on the way back, got off at DTD for dinner & drinks. A perfect day!

Okay, we need to travel together!!!! That would be my perfect day as well!!! And those pancakes? I could eat them every....single....day! For life! Of course, I would then be forced to pay for an addtl seat on the plane...:rotfl2:

Any time you want!! And we live pretty close so it's possible :-)

We took that bus a couple years ago and it wasn't bad at all. We took the one from DTD to Sea World (then transferred to a USO-bound Lynx). It didn't take anywhere near the hours some other people experienced - under half an hour, I know that.

The drivers understand people are from out of town and can help if for some reason you're having a hard time paying the fare. Just be sure to have exact change on-hand.

It's long, it's def NOT a disney bus, it's cheap, it's typical to have to walk after u exit, you re on a schedule. I would not do it with small kids or elderly. We would not do it again.

The route planning site isn't working for me at the moment, but there isn't any way you could have gotten fron Downtown Disney to Sea World to Universal Studios in about a half hour. Lynx is public transportation, with multiple scheduled stops between SW and USF.

That would be close to a miracle! It takes 30 mins to drive to US/IoA! If you take the Lynx bus to US/IoA, it's at least an hour since there is a transfer.....many, many, many people have documented that time. Sometimes even longer. You may have gotten extraordinarily lucky, I don't know. But, people need to realize that 30 mins, from WDW to US/IoA using the Lynx bus is probably not going to happen.

My DD and I did this several years ago and found it to be a great inexpensive way to get to SW. We felt very safe and the driver was very helpful. I would do it again--my DD considered it an adventure!! :-)
