Bus and shuttles to Disney do not have seatbelts

GO, GO, GO GRIMLEY. :woohoo:

"Disingenuous" -- PERFECT word.

People who take a towncar to avoid crowded DME buses with screaming kids won't be happy using Disney buses to go to the theme parks.

DME tends to take the same time as using a towncar. The few extra minutes waiting for a bus to be dispatched, a possible stop or two before our resort and a driver that follows the speed limit is offset by not having to wait for luggage.

There have been very few real horror posts regarding DME, fewer than the number of people who had limo drivers not show.

I don't agree with the extra hours at the resort comment. Current security lines at MCO are rather long. A towncar will get you an extra 30-45 minutes at your resort. A towncar will pick you up at a theme park or at another resort. That will work out great if you have an afternoon flight and can check your luggage through at your resort.

If I had a towncar service I'd be looking for business from Sanford airport customers.

We need to stop feeding Edd. This thread should be closed. It's clear the discussion at hand was 'disingenuous' - and his 'theories' have all been rebutted and he clearly has refused to attempt to defend his earlier statements.

The private transportation that is available through the World Wide Webb offers many more advantages than transportation by bus to the Disney Resorts. Private transportation must realize that it will not get the passenger who is spending their last few dollars to get their kids to the Wonderful World of Disney. There remains the passengers that want to travel to the Magic Kingdom in the styles they are accustomed to.
Oh, heck - I don't suppose you got credited for the changes at teamrodent, did you, CleveRocks? ;) At any rate, even the new text there is inaccurate. While there might be a few families who, for whatever reason, spend "their last few dollars" on a trip to Walt Disney World, MOST visitors simply seek the best value for their/our money. And I, at least, am not "accustomed to" traveling in chauffeured vehicles. Sure it's nice, it's fun, but really - when I travel, my objective is to enjoy my destination, not the transportation.

The private companies will be able to offer Disney to the visitor approximately one hour after landing Orlando. Pick up times can be set up much tighter, which means a few extra hours in the resorts.
As has been stated here numerous times, DME is as likely as a town car or limo to get Guests to their Disney resort destination within an hour of landing. DME passengers don't have to wait for any luggage (except by choice, and the travel times for those Guests should reasonably not be included in measuring DME-user travel time) or for the driver to run and get the car, or load the luggage. As for the ability to set pick up times "much tighter" [than DME requires], do the math. DME pick up is scheduled at 2.75 to 3 hours before flight departure. Exactly how much closer to flight departure time can a town car driver pick up passengers at a Disney resort and get them to the airport in time to check in, check luggage, get through security and get to the gate - and still allow said visitors "a FEW extra HOURS" in the resorts??? Thirty minutes to the airport, fifteen minutes to check in, forty five minutes to get through security, ten minutes to the gate...

And my apologies to CanadianGuy, but I can't help responding :) Unfortunately, can't only the original poster request that a thread be locked?

My apologies, too. I just can't stand disingenuity (<--- how's that for a word, if it exists), in an attempt to tear someone else down (DME) in order to build oneself up (limo/taxi drivers), so I end up posting and thus feed the trolls.

Maybe the OP is the only one who can technically ask a thread to be locked, but I'll give it a college try. Moderators: maybe it's time to put a lock on this thread. If it was a fair debate starting with the OP expressing earnest opinions and using real facts (other posters have expressed themselves honestly here and with facts to bolster their points), I'd have no problems with it, but this thread isn't, and never really was.

See you guys on the Disney Cruise lines or maybe in the parks sometime this year.

Remember seat belts save lives. See that SUV crash, in Michigan, on national TV!!

P.S. I don't advise my passengers anything. They have picked me over other forms of transportation for some very good reasons.

Oh please..don't mention the Disney Cruise Line Edd because I'll have to go into a 20 minute diatribe about the phenomenally poor service my family and friends of ours received by a limo driver picking us up at the terminal. What a joke that guy was. Do you think he'd even help us by picking up a bag or two and moving it to where it was supposed to be? Of course not. Never again. I'd rather go on Disney Transportation without seatbelts then use that poor excuse for a limo driver. :furious:

YES SEAT BELTS TO SAVE LIVES. Take this story from not to far from Disney. This was posted on the Channel 9 news page..

Seat belt stops bullet
written by: Dan Viens Web Producer

TAMPA - A Florida woman is thanking her seat belt for saving her life, but she wasn't in a car crash.

Robin Key and her husband were sitting in their car at a stop light when a bullet came through the windshield and hit her in the chest. However, the bullet was stopped by her seat belt.

At first the couple thought the sound was an explosion. After seeing the hole in her windshield and feeling pain in her shoulder, Robin knew she had been shot.

"She was frantically looking, trying to figure out where she was bleeding and I was looking too, trying to figure out where she was bleeding at," said Robin's husband Donnie Key. "Then we realized the seat belt is what actually saved her life. A few more inches away and the bullet may have actually penetrated through her body."

The 38-caliber bullet hit the seat belt, which was across Robin's chest, and fell into her lap. The bullet mark, but didn't penetrate the material.

Police later arrested two men for shooting at the Keys' car and two other drivers that day.

I want Disney to install seat belts. You never know when a stray bullet in Disney might get ya.

neither do most school buses or city buses....

Its a personal decision and if you don't feel safe then I would suggest you not use the buses. That said watching the way the average tourist drives around Disney I figure you are safer in the bus. (It really is NOT a good idea to cut across three lanes of traffic at high speed when you see the MK exit for example!)

GREAT POST!

Okay, I don't normally respond to trolls, but I am in a bad mood today and kicking you seems like more fun than kicking my dog

:lmao: This was just funny :lmao:

9-11??? Katrina??? I am not even going to respond. Both events were not only tragedies for those poor families involved, but for the whole country. To use them to prove a point on a Disney World message board, by a disgruntled limo driver is just pitiful, and I will not take part in it.

Well stated!

The ride is bus transportation. It takes a little while for the Disney people to get you ready and than depending on the load there are the stops at the different hotels. So it is not the fastest way out there.

I beg to differ! we have used MEARS (ughhhh never again) and private town cars and a Limo AND rented a car..so all kinds of transport ALL arranged ahead of time and DME got us to our destination (the same resort EACH time at around the same time) MUCH faster!! In our families case we made it in 51 minutes from the minute we lifted our bottoms off hte plane!! (we also had to unfold our stroller and buckle our little one in and then stop for DH and I to use the bathroom AND change a diaper and then off to the check in line at DME!! From now on it's DME for me and my family and i've reccomended i to everyone i know! we had 4 different families that we told they MUST do this! and they came back with GREAT results!!

Moderators will frequently close threads that are going nowhere .. e.g.:

- Pool Hopping : Felony or God Given Right

- My DS/DD/DWhatever Was Hurt/Maimed/Disappointed on ______ Ride : Should I Sue?

- Line Cutters : Applaud Them? or Lock Them Up in the Castle?

- I Refilled My Mug From '96 : Is That Ok?

- I Want To Put 9 People in a ASMu Room? Is That Legal?

- If Disney Doesn't Issue An AP Code for (month); I'll Hold My Breath Till I Die!

- I Want to Share My Dining Plan With 34 People. I Can Do That Right?

Ok.. I'm just being silly now. But you get the idea.

Regardless, this is Disney-based after all. A boy can dream can't he?
(About getting Edd's Threadd shutt downn thatt iss.. )

This thread was ridiculous from the first post and Edd never added one item to the conversation that was factual or advanced the discussion forward. He never responded to my request that he indicate if he's aware of any deaths on DME or Disney Inter-Resort/Park transportation. He didn't respond to any of LewisC's questions which were fair and relevant to the discussion at hand.

In short, he acted exactly like a troll. He appeared with a 'hidden' axe to grind. Attempted to feebly disguise his identity. He set about to :stir: immediately and ignored responses while continually repeating the same tripe hoping it might stick to the wall.

That's just my opinion. We welcome yours! pirate: :cool1: :rotfl2:
