Bunks and Twins - Do they exist at WDW?

Hiya all,

While I was looking for rooms at WDW for my family (who are going without me *sob*), I've noticed something, or more precisely a lack or something. Nowhere have I seen mention of bunk beds or twin rooms. Everything seems to be a double/queen/king with either another double/queen/king or a pull-out sofa bed.

Do US hotels not cater for odd family groups, as in anything other than a mum, dad and 2 children or have I just managed to miss them on every search I've done? What do you do if you have 3 kids or more?

My Dsis wants a room with 3 beds as she's taking her daughter and my mum and they all wanted a seperate bed ideally. The only thing I've found that would GUARANTEE them three seperate beds is a 2-bedroom villa which is silly money for 2 adults and a kid!

I saw that Fort Wilderness had mention of bunk beds for kids but it still seemed to be a double and a kiddy bunk that I wouldn't feel happy putting an adult on. Plus they really wanted to be in a deluxe this time.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me???

Wilderness Lodge has Bunk rooms with a double and bunk beds, When we went in 2007. My son was 16 and 5'8" tall and he slep in them so they fit an adult.

The Poly (and I think Contemporary) have rooms with 2 queen beds plus a sleeper sofa so that should be fine for their needs.

Last time we went to AKL we had 2 rooms and the one room did have bunk beds and 1 double bed. I think most hotel rooms do sleep 4 in 2 double beds unless your a couple, in which case you can request a kingsize. Bunks are not guaranteed, so I would phone the hotel the day before check-in. Most times my chidren do have to share beds.

The cabins at FW have a double bed and bunk beds in the bedroom and a pull down murphy bed in the living room. The bunk beds were fine and not the shortie style.
WL also do rooms with bunks, your other option would be choosing a room which sleeps 5 as they will have 2 double beds and a queen bed.

I don't think rooms have 2 doubleand a queen as queens are bigger than doubles. rooms which sleep 5 I think are normally 2 double or queens and a sleeper sofa or Murphy/trundle bed.

We had a trundle bed at POR and it was very small. Ended up getting a camp bed from walmart. The room was 2 double beds and the trundle.

Your right I meant and a day bed

Thanks for the responses guys.

What was said above reflected my beliefs, that you couldn't guarantee bunks if you booked somewhere that potentially had them and they're not willing to risk it. Also the Poly and Contemp are way out of the price league sadly, I'd love to get them a castle view room for the 7yr old!

Would I be right in thinking that a room designed to sleep 5 would cost more than a "normal" room? My mum's paying for the whole group to go so she wants to keep costs down for anything she considers unnecessary (she's willing to sleep two to a double/queen/king so she wouldn't be happy paying more.)

They're being right pains in the butt with this. I just want to get them sorted with a BCV studio where I know they'll get the top Disney quality as I've stayed there twice! They keep coming up with questions I need to answer before the 7 month window opens for the DVC ressie!!

I'm sure when I was pricing up WL last week on the official UK site that there was a separate pricing for a bunk room?? (Or is this not what you were meaning - sorry if i've misunderstood!!)
:thumbsup2

some of the 1 beds at AKV sleep 5. They have a double bed, sofa and chair bed.

Yes AKL and WL have seperate pricing for a guaranteed bunk bed room, not sure if this can be done through a tour operator/ non Disney travel agent successfully, I suspect direct with WDW or a Disney travel agent would be better.

Otherwise for a 3 bed option BWI has the two queens and a daybed.

Claire ;)
