Are they for children only? Is there a weight restriction or some idea that an average sized adult woman, or a teenager could/couldn't use one?

I think they are standard twin-size beds. If there is a possible weight issue, maybe have that person sleep on the bottom?;)

Great question! IMO, they are probably quite sturdy and built to endure!

I would think they would be built sturdy also. Some big teen boys could be pretty heavy. I think Disney would also consider that maybe aduls would be sleeping in them. I no this grandma will be sleeping in one, but I will pick the bottom to be safe. I wouldn't want to crush dear grandson. That would really put a damper on the vacation.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

We had bunks at AKL once before they converted the deluxe rooms to AKV villas. The bunks were pretty substantial, but I wouldn't want to be the one (adult) having to climb into the top bunk. My son slept on it and his cousin slept on the bottom bunk, but they were both small, maybe 9 or 10.

I don't think they were true twin sized mattresses.

I really think that if they were only for children they'd have said so when they listed the maximum occupancy. Since they say the THV's sleep 9, I assume that would / could be 9 adults. I probably still wouldn't plan to put a truely obese person in the top bunk tho...that would be pretty awkard for them and potentially a risk for something to go wrong. But a "normal" size adult should be fine if they can fit into a twin size bed - it just may not be the most comfortable nights sleep.:goodvibes

We have stayed at the Grand Californian in a room with bunks and the limit was 100 lbs on them. This was a room with a queen and two bunks. I am sure the assumption was it was a family room and the bunks are for kids.
The bunks ath THV are in there own room and the occupancy is clearly listed as 9. I am sure they have been built to accomdate adults.

I also stayed in a room like that at the GC and forgot about it. I did lay on the bottom bunk, but no way would I climb on the top one.
