Bunk bed ladder question

my advice would be bring a twin size airbed and ask your room attendant to remove the table infront of the couch and then place the airbed on the floor infront of the couch, it will be cramped on floor space at night but much safer for all involved and then during the day you can stand the bed up against the wall out of the way

I just can't imagine standing an air mattress (even a twin) anywhere in the stateroom.

well you could deflate it each morning, it's a much safer idea than having a 70+ year old climb a ladder or having someone pooh sized testing the suggested weight limit.

I agree with you.. OP.. who exactly is in the room with you? I don't know your situation but the 2 twin beds pushed together is large. If we needed to our daughter could have slept with us. That would have left the couch open for another adult if need be. I do agree that it would be difficult for an adult to be comfortable in the top bunk.

My 77 yo dad my 75 yo mom my 14 yo dd and me. We could not do an air mattress as our cruise leaves from Dover England and would not be able to put it in our luggage.

I would put 14 yr old on top bunk, you on bottom/couch bed, and parents on regular bed.... That would be the best situation...

smb6 that was what we were originally going to do, but my dd does not fit inside the weight limit.

Can you upgrade to a Family stateroom that sleeps 5?

I think those have the 2 twins, the couch bed, the ceiling bunk and a Murphy bed that pulls out from the wall. You wouldnt need the ceiling bunk but grandparents could sleep on the twins pushed together, mom on the couch bed and dd on the murphy(wall) bed.

Then you could compare price for the family stateroom or 2 inside staterooms. Both of which would give you ample space. I almost would lean toward the 2 staterooms if financially possible because I know from having teenage daughters that bathroom space/time is premium and with the 2 rooms you would also benefit from an extra bathroom.

I am going to talk to our ta about having 2 cabins instead of 1 even though that would add 4000. Do the regular beds split into 2 twins?

The beds on the Wonder and Magic split to twins; the beds on the Dream do not. Not trying to be nosy, but how much over the limit is your dd? If it's only a little, I think I would put her up there any how- you know they are all about safety, and I'm sure whatever the limit is can actually safely hold a bit more.... If she's with in 25 pounds over, I'd put her up there; JMO.

she is well over 25 pounds over

I would say upgrade or get 2 rooms that fit within your budget. You want to know ahead of time you will all be comfortable with the sleeping arrangements. You don't want to show up and have trouble.. that will spoil your vacation. Best of luck and most of all Have A Good Time :)

By all means if it's within your budget, I'd go for a second room. If not- I'd 1. call disney and ask them about being above weight- seems like they would accomodate you some way, some how. 2.- ask your dad how he feels about sleeping on the top bunk.

Let us know how it works out.....

If it is not in your budget because that is a lot of money, you could lift the mattress out of the top bunk and have it on the floor at night for your DD to sleep on. Then you could lift the mattress back into the bunk every morning? That would be fairly quick and easy. If you only did at night it wouldn't take up much space either?? It would save you some money. Could also ask about a rollaway bed and explain the circumstances??

Does dcl have rollaways? Will they take them out of the room in the day? This sounds like the best solution.

I would phone dcl for advice....maybe they can help you out in some way

OP check out the thread about sideways staterooms. This may help solve your problem and keep everyone comfortable:thumbsup2
Good luck

I would agree with this. That would work. Coming from a Pooh Size Family, we do understand. Can I ask, what category are you currently booked in? We just want to explore all of the options for you. Many of us know the ship better than some TAs and CMs and many times can solve problems for you if you give us a bit more information. I am sure we can help.
