Bungee cord or rope???

I saw on the DIS packing list they recommend bungee cord or rope if you have connecting rooms. What would you need it for?

Wow, good timing, this has been on my mind. Do people bring door stoppers also? Is it two doors, one in each room, or just one door, does anyone know? What has been people's experience with this when booking connecting rooms, I'm wondering?

You can request a door stopper from your room host.

Two doors, one in each room with the latch to open each door only on the outside. You can't open the "other" door once you've opened the one in your room:

Do you recall which category room this was with the magnets? We have standard inside connecting rooms on the Dream, so the magnet is there already to hold the doors open? Do they lay flat against the wall? Or is the bureau there like in the picture above?

You can only open the door in YOUR cabin. Even when unlocked. The other cabin has to open their side.

This was on the Magic this past May. Category 9 room.

As Dug said, you can't open the door into the other room, once you've opened the door on your side because there's no latch/handle/door knob to operate the mechanism from your side. You can see in the picture I posted that the two sides of the doors that face each other have a flat panel where the handle would be.

No need to bring rope/bungie cords for the connecting door. The room steward will provide a door stopper. Just ask.

Yes we didn't have a problem on the dream, I would just get a door stopper at the dollar store.

At first, I thought it had something to do with the verandahs, but they look like they are secured open (or closed) anyway. Then I thought it was for the inside doors, so they could be mostly closed (like for sleeping - so there's privacy, but parents aren't locked out of the kids' room). A magnet to hold the doors open would be awesome.

You are requested to NOT leave your verandah door open - just use it for going in and out. It affects the a/c in all the cabins in your block - including ocean view and interior who have no way to get air like you do on your verandah.

No, sorry, I meant the divider between two stateroom balconies. You're right about the doors from the room to the balcony, of course.

It's also a fire hazard in case some knucklehead throws a cigarette overboard from above...that same thing caused a major fire on a another cruise ship...

On many of them they have a part of the partition between the neighboring verandah, and I think for connecting they can open that divider, and if it isn't secured it can sort of flap around and make noise in the wind. We had this happen on our cruise that the first couple of nights we kept hearing that partition making noise and finally realized what it was and called guest services and they had someone come secure it right away. I think all those verandah partitions are not locked and can be opened by anyone. Just something to consider for all those advocating the verandah club in that other now infamous thread.

It was on deck 9 and it was a verandah room but I dont think the room category would matter because it's pretty minor room enhancement, the magnet latch was towards the bottom of the door if I recall. I remember bringing bungee cords and not needing them on the cruise. I am going in May and I'll take a photo for you if my room has a connecting door.
