I have my neighborhood Bunco tonight...the secret society of " get me out of the house, for some fun, laughter, and some cocktails"..:cool1:

Anyway was wondering how some of you play?

We don't roll 3's we skip them, we call them the ****s...if you roll 3's your score is taken all the way back to zero and you start again.

We have mini Bunco, Bunco, and **** prizes which are gifts, and then also do the money for the end of game for most wins, most losses, and BUNCO...

we play until 21...usually 3 rounds....fun times...

Happy Friday everyone...:cheer2:

I love BUNCO! We play at school a lot and have cool cool prizes! How many people are in your group?

I love my bunco group!!!

We don't do wipe outs, etc. It is hard enough for us to roll, talk, and count all at the same time! Ha!

One thing we do that I think is pretty unique...we have a full meal, but the hostess is only responsible for providing plates, etc.

We have a rotating schedule...one month you will bring pop, the next crackers and cheese, the next dessert, chips and dips, then main dish...etc. It works great and spreads out the expense throughout the year so it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg when you host! :cool1:

I am down to 2 groups. $10 a head, different house each time, hostess puts out a nice spread, wine and beer, maybe a fancy cocktail. Usually over around 11.

Never played... don't know anyone who does.... :confused3 I feel like I'm missing out!

You ARE missing out, Mermaid! I played with a group of Embassy wives in the Philippines and Germany, 4 tables in each place, $10 each, and prizes for everyone. (That's how we got around the "no gambling on gov't property" rule. If everyone wins, it's no gamble.) I can't remember all the prizes, but I do remember pearl jewelry (cheap in the PI), Polish pottery and crystal vases, bowls, etc. in Germany (crystal was my contribution; again, cheap overseas.)
There are no Bunco groups that I know of here, and I really miss it!

I'm joining a new group just forming this month. No idea how they will do it, I am just happy to get out and meet some other women!

My wife and daughter play quite often. I've played in a couple of co-ed games. Fun. There is an organized group down at our Florida community.

I played in a group in college (my sister in law was a stay at home mom and invited me to join their group) but I've never heard of the game out here where I live now. I loved playing. I looked forward to it every month.

legalized gamblin' by packs of housewives....;)

And your point is???? ;) This is how lawmen got the nickname of "The Bunco Squad", from busting up such gambling parties. :rotfl: But we only do prizes, not cash.

Now THAT's a good idea!

I'm in two groups (meeting the first Mon of month, and 2nd Tue of month), and they are only a little different. I've never heard of the wipeout thing, that would certainly add another layer of confusion to the mix!! In both groups we have one scorekeeper per table, with each team getting a Win or Loss each round. Everyone keeps tally of their own W/L and Buncos.

In the Mon group we also track our Triples (or Little Buncos), for a prize with the most. We also have a goofy gag-gift prize for Middle of the Road, if someone gets 9 wins & 9 losses! Those two in addition to Most Wins, Most Buncos, Fuzzy Dice (last one to get a Bunco and hold the traveller), and the Biggest Loser (cheap prize).

In the Tue group it's just 1st place, 2nd, 3rd, Most Buncos, Fuzzy Dice, and Biggest Loser.

I've been lobbying each year to score for a small lower straight (1-2-3)... because I roll that ALL. THE. TIME!!!!:laughing::laughing:

Happy Rolling, everyone! :dance3:

I've heard so much about Bunco but I've never seen it or played it. It is a dice game, yes?

I would love to play. I even think I'd make a good hostess and we have a large living room with furniture that is easy to move to make room for tables.

I wish my friends were not all over the globe.

Most bunco groups are consist of women within the neighborhood, so you could probably form one yourself. Just spread the word around your subdivision and see if anyone is interested in joining.

I didn't even realized this game was still popular. Years ago there were quite a few bunco groups in my neighborhood - every Thursday night you'd see a line of cars parked outside a handful of houses. Although for all I know they still play, but I've just not noticed. Unfortunately I never learned the secret password required to join a group.

Love all the comments...:thumbsup2

I cracked up when someone said it's hard to keep score, talk, and play...so very true.:rotfl2:

At our Bunco we have 12 players. Everyone gets one month to host. When you host you are responsible for gifts and snacks. Everyone brings their own cocktail of choice.
I do like the idea of putting out a meal, very nice.:)

Once a ear we allow:woohoo: the DH to join us and play. It's fun. We play for $10.00 also...

Sometimes we also have themes. Like for Christmas which I love to host for Bunco, mini bunco rolls I buy those crazy headbands with reindeers or santas on them. We also have Marduk GRAS dress ups, wigs, and whatever else theme you might like.for October we generally all wear pink for breast cancer support and buy prizes that contribute to the cause.

I like so many of your ideas and will mention some tonight. :thumbsup2

For those of you who don't play wish ou could start a group, it really is fun to be out with the girls...

Let it roll my fellow BUNCO Peeps...:woohoo:

I'm in a bunco group. Just had our monthly game last night! I didn't win anything. We have 12 people too and do a mini bunco prize with whoever had the last mini bunco in the by the end of the last round. We do 3 tables and table 1 plays until they reach 21 and ring the bell and then we switch based on whether you won or lost. We each pitch in $6. We've been playing for over two years now with the neighborhood. Each month someone hosts. Good times.

Oh yes - there is also a rule that and the end of round 2 we must eat dessert.

It's been more than 7 or 8 years since DH and I've played it that I've forgotten how to play it. We used to play when we were part of our church's couples club. I don't even think they've done it in a while either.

I was tagged by the Tag Fairy about 4 years ago b/c of the game, but of course, "we called it Bonko" ;)
