Bumps, bruises, too many teenagers & swimming with sharks! NEW 11/17 pg. 32

I'm here!!! And enjoying it all so far. I LOVE your view, what a primo spot for people watching! :thumbsup2

Awesome start to your TR!

I really can't wait to see your pictures. I know the boys had to be sooooooo excited on Day #1. Sorry they didn't love the Ohana food. I think check-in there is always super chaotic. I've never seen it NOT crowded.

Glad that SAB was in functioning order. That's so great how everything worked out perfectly for you.

Yay for club level and a DIS meet to boot! :cool1:

I'm joining in Amy!
Looks like a great first day. Glad SAB worked out and you got a swim in before the rain. This was like our 4th or 5th April trip and I think this was the rainiest one. :sad1:
Can't wait to hear more.
If you do a DIS meet with Dee let me know I don't live to far away ;)

:welcome: This was definitely the rainiest April trip I've ever been on! I had a very rainy March trip in 2008, but otherwise, this was the worst.

I'll keep you in mind for the Southern NH/northern MA DISmeet! ;)

No I did not meet Tim & Alex. Oh well. Hopefully we can set up a Disney Store shopping day & I can pick you up. Or we might be at Disney again at the same time.

That was so strange how we must have walked right by each other. I was taking lots of pictures though so I am going to chalk it up to that.:)

You'll probably be on a whole new vacationing schedule now... with no kids in K-12, you'll be AVOIDING school vacation weeks! So we'll have to figure out something local for sure!

What a fun first day, looks like the boys had a great time in the pool. Sorry they didn't like the food at Ohana, was the food spicy or just different type of flavors? Hooray for a DISmeet:cool1:
Can't wait to read about your DHS day

Arrival day was pretty nice... aside from the rain! I think we didn't love 'Ohana for a combination of both reasons - too spicy & different flavors.

Mr. Tim was nice enough to get Liam a donut. It was his first time with a chocolate frosted!

I'm so glad that Amy told me about flying into Tampa because it's such an easy drive to Orlando. It's nice to have that option for flight times and prices.
We stopped for lunch at Steak n' Shake, yum!

And thank you again Amy for the 20 pounds of gifts you gave the kids at the airport ;)

I'm glad Tampa worked out for you. Also glad you had a nice lunch at Steak n' Shake!

Sorry about that 20 pounds of goodies! :rotfl: I kept buying things when I would see them, then it turned out to be way more than I needed!

The boys really liked their activity books. Tim liked the guy with the magnetic hair... I can't remember what it was called. I have a picture in with my souvenir pics, but I haven't uploaded them to PB yet.

I'm here!:goodvibes

Sounds like a fun first day!!:thumbsup2 Love your pictures of the BC! You had a great view!

Sorry that Ohana's wasn't a hit for you guys. I'm a little nervous my boys won't like it either. :confused3 But, DH and I are still anxious to give a try.:thumbsup2

:welcome: Our view at the BC was fantastic! I thought I wanted to see the pool, but the courtyard was the perfect place to people watch. Especially when it would start raining! During one of the storms, there were a ton of teenagers who went running out of the BC toward Epcot - the girls were all squealing! It was so funny! :rotfl2:

Most people love 'Ohana so hopefully you will too!

Great first day! The boys seemed to handle the surprise pretty well. I know changes are tough for them sometimes.

The BC is just beautiful! What a treat to stay club level. Good for you! :thumbsup2

Sorry you didn't love 'Ohana. We wanted to try dinner there but ended up doing the character breakfast instead. We really enjoyed it, but the breakfast was the traditional fare...nothing unusual!

Disney was a good surprise so they were OK with it!

It really was a treat to stay club level! I'd love to stay club level in a villa sometime! Not sure if you can even do that but it would be the best of both worlds. I don't see that happening anytime soon!

Love the Manchester airport. So not crowded. And the parking is so reasonable!

Can I tell you how much I love the picture of the WDW arch, with the road curving- most pictues don't include this.

I'm so glad that you ended up back at the BC and that you already enjoyed SAB on the first day.

The first year we stayed at the BC, we had a similar view of the courtyard and loved it, especially the people watching. Our room was in the wing to the left of your straight on room.

Bummer that you couldn't find a popsicle! Not for lack of trying!

Looking forward to reading about Day 2!!!

We LOVE the Manchester airport too! It really is easy to fly in & out of there. And so much cheaper to park the car. :thumbsup2

The whole popsicle incident was really a bit ridiculous! Our view was awesome!!

Great update, Amy. Love your room at the BC (that is the only deluxe that I still want to try one of these trips).

Love the pics of the boys swimming.

Sorry that most of the family didn't enjoy Ohana; we've never done dinner there becasue I'm with the boys and not sure I'd like the noodles, etc.

You should definitely give the BC a try sometime - it's a beautiful resort.

I guess I expected the noodles to taste like the ones at Teppan Edo - but they didn't. :headache:

Subbing:coffee:, now I want to stay at the BC.:confused3

:welcome: You should definitely give the BC a try!

I didn't know that you and Heidi's family were traveling on the same flight. How fun!

Yup! Same flight, same resort for the second part of our trip. It was nice to have a friendly face around.

This is awesome!
so excited to read the rest!!!

:welcome: Thanks for reading!

Hi Amy,

Here and caught up, great intros pictures and start, glad the rain didn't spoil too much of your arrival day....so sorry the majority of you didnt like OHana

Looking forward to hearing more and getting some clues to your choice of title

J

:welcome: I'll have to explain the title before I go too much further.

I'm glad you started Amy! :thumbsup2

Bummer on 'Ohana. That is on my must-do list. It usually gets good reviews, right? What didn't you like?

Yes - 'Ohana usually does get good reviews. It just wasn't for us. Tim liked it but I expected Zach to like it too. He isn't usually very picky but he didn't like the spices.

Subbing so I can go back and read

:welcome:

Hi There :) I'm really enjoying your report so far. My family and I used to stay at Vistana resort when I was younger..it's so nice. The Boardwalk looks amazing. I hope my husband and I could stay there one day. Looking forward to more. -Amanda

:welcome: I've really enjoyed staying in the Boardwalk/BC/Epcot area. I've stayed there 3 times now & will be doing so again when I stay at BWV with my friends in October. :thumbsup2

I'm here!!! And enjoying it all so far. I LOVE your view, what a primo spot for people watching! :thumbsup2

:welcome: The view was the BEST!

Awesome start to your TR!

The boys really enjoyed the surprise! I'm glad to hear chaotic is the normal check-in deal at 'Ohana because it was definitely crazy!

We really enjoyed SAB - I just wish the weather had been more cooperative!

I'm here Amy! :cool1:

I have been MIA for a while and had no idea that you were back at the BC. So exciting. I love all your pictures. I want to stay there soooo bad.

How neat that you met Doreen and you guys were so close.

:surfweb:Can't wait to read more.

Woo hoo! :cool1: (I actually saw the bat signal you sent out on FB & subbed last night!) I love reading TRs that happened the same time as my trips.

:welcome: Hi Erika! Yes - it was a very crazy couple of days before we left with the last minute resort switch! It was so great to meet Doreen!

Before I post the next update, I thought I'd explain the title. I'm afraid I might forget to tell about all of the parts as I go through the TR so here it is...

The bumps and bruises were all mine! :headache: The first one happened on one of the first few wet days. I think it was at MK on our second day. I was wearing flip flops and my feet were squishing around a bit. I was trying to put something in the backpack, which was on Tim's back. I stepped on the back of his shoe and broke my big toenail. The next happened when I walked into a chair in our villa when I was coming off the balcony. I got a big black & blue on my thigh. (I moved the chair after that.) Next was the best one of all... I was at the pool at Vistana and it was one of the first hot days. I took a ride down the waterslide and on my way back to my lounge chair, I realized how hot the ground was. My feet were burning to I jumped up on the lounge chair... and my leg went right through the slits in the vinyl! The lifeguard saw me and asked if I was OK. My ankle hurt but I was mostly embarassed! I had a big bruise on the ouside of my ankle. The last one was a bruise to my hip when I got onto TSM on our last day. I am a bit accident-prone but that was even a lot for me! Luckily none of the injuries were serious.

As for the teenagers, the World was invaded by school groups on our last few days. We had dance & cheer teams there for a competition. There were also school bands there and a ton of school trips - field trips, senior trips, and any other type of teen group you can imagine. They seemed to have arrived on Thursday or Friday 4/26 or 4/27. They weren't there on Wednesday, we were at Typhoon Lagoon on Thursday and when we returned to the parks on Friday, they were EVERYWHERE! Every ride we went on had a group of crazy teenagers. They were well behaved but even well behaved high school girls are loud on Tower of Terror & Kali River Rapids! Squeeeeeeeeeellllllll!!! I was just ready to be done with all of them by the time we left.

I am going to save the last part of the title (swimming with sharks) for the TR. I definitely won't forget to tell that story because it was one of the major things that happened at Typhoon Lagoon. Obviously someone swam with sharks but you'll have to wait to hear the rest.

I hope to have Day 2 started sometime this weekend.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!

I know what you mean about school groups! We actually saw my DH's friend's son march right before the MSEP one night we were there. They are from RI. I was so excited for them.
I marched in a parade at Sea World my junior yr. of H.S. I wish it would have been the parade at MK!

Those are some unique 'souvenirs' to bring home from a Disney trip. Ouch!

I have to admit - I laughed at the foot through the chair thing. I mean, I am sorry you got hurt, but the picture in my mind was a little funny. :upsidedow

Thanks for the explanation of the title-

I guessed the swimming with sharks part.

I thought the bumps and bruises might also be TL- the wave pool is notorious! (and fun)

And the teenagers. I have no comment. Just compassion and empathy. I will be with one of those groups in a few short weeks. In the past, our group has always been complimented for good behaviour so I am hoping this is not the year that changes.

I am so sorry about all of your bumps and bruises. Glad none of them hindered your vacation plans!

I had no idea so many high school groups take trips to WDW. I work in a K-12 school and even well-behaved teens are teens!

Can't wait to hear about the sharks!

YIKES on all those bumps and bruises Amy. Glad nothing was too serious though.
I know all about mobs of teenagers, glad they were well behaved.
Can't wait to read about the swimming with sharks, though I really need to make sure Joey isn't in the room or he'll freak:confused:

Hope you have a wonderful Mothers Day:flower3: you deserve it, you are such a great mom.

Oh My Amy! That IS a lot of bumps and bruises and I was certain you were talking about the boys. :lmao: Oh well, at least you didn't break any ankle.

Ughhhhh to high school and middle school groups. You know how I feel about school kids when I am playing tourist. :scared1:

Oh man! That is a lot of bumps and bruises for one trip!! Glad to hear none of it was serious.

I've been there when the teens invade - and it can be overwhelming, I agree!

Oh my Amy I guess you are accident prone. That cement around the pool does get so hot though. Sometimes I am almost running back to my chair because my feet are burning!!

The chair thing was the funniest! As soon as I did it, I was looking around to see who witnessed my stupidity!

Believe it or not, we didn't make it to the wave pool! But I've heard stories about how bad it is!

Good luck with the teenagers!

I can't believe how many schools take trips to Disney either... they are SOOOOO lucky!

YIKES on all those bumps and bruises Amy. Glad nothing was too serious though.

I'll be sure to give a shark warning before I post pictures! :rotfl:

I had a nice mother's day - I hope you did too!

:rotfl2: It would be a logical conclusion that I'd be talking about the boys! But no, it was me!

The groups were a bit crazy!

Oh man! That is a lot of bumps and bruises for one trip!! Glad to hear none of it was serious.

I've been there when the teens invade - and it can be overwhelming, I agree!

No serious injuries... just a few bruises to bring home as souvenirs!

Overwhelming is a perfect word to describe the teen groups.

Oh my goodness! You got beat up on this trip. OW!!!!!

I'm way too uncoordinated! :headache:

Count me in!!

:welcome:

Oh my Amy I guess you are accident prone. That cement around the pool does get so hot though. Sometimes I am almost running back to my chair because my feet are burning!!

It was sooo hot! Running back to the chair & sitting down would have been a better solution though!

Zach was quite the photographer on this trip! Here are his photos from day 1.
