We were hoping to take a trip to Europe in 2005 using our points (possibly) and were considering France as an option. There are no longer any destinations in France in the World Passport Collection. Not a big deal, really, but a minor disappointment in terms of reducing our options (though things could change in terms of resort availability given that we are still a couple of years out).

Marriott is building a new Marriott Vaction Club serving Paris. It's Marriott's Village d'Ile-de-France. It should open next year.

Click on this link.

This resort is affiliated with Interval International, and it will undoubtedly be a very high quality timeshare resort, worthy of inclusion in DVC's World Passport Collection. Normally, all new Marriott Vacation Club resorts are added to the World Passport Collection, with the exception of those in Orlando.

But because it is on-site at Disneyland Paris, it remains to be seen whether or not it's included. It depends on if Disney wants to limit you to Disneyland Paris's own resort hotel properties available though the Disney Collection.

If Marriott's Village d'Ile-de-France is available, it should be great place for visits to the two Disney theme parks, train trips into Paris, and excursions into the French countryside.

I'd assume the Marriott will be included. From what I know the II-DVC options were not that great for France, I'd assume that's why they were dropped.

That would be good all the way around, as our other option is to use my Marriott points which have been accumulating well lately.

Maybe not what you had in mind, but you've still got the Disney Paris resorts as an option in France.
