Bully on the bus question

You are right, Mal ! I do hope that the situation improves!

I was just agreeing with bcvillas, and others. There are those here who are so afraid of the 'tattletale' label, or who think that the best thing is to ignore and do nothing, or who do not see the gravity of the harassment.

PLEASE, PLEASE CONTACT THE SCHOOL....

My daughter had issues with some girls last year (she was in 6th grade then)

She did her due diligence and ignored them and the taunts....
and the regular bus driver was notified of the situation and kept the kids in line....

However, one day there was a substitue driver who IGNORED THE FACT that the kids were threatening my daughter ON THE BUS and just told the kids to take it off the bus....

Two girls then started kicking my daughter as soon as they got off the bus as the driver PULLED AWAY...

My daughter ran home with the other two in tow and for lack of doing anything else grabbed a soda out of the garage and threw it at her attackers to get them to go away (she's by herself after school). The girls them punched and kicked her really hard. My DD went in the house and called me but was afraid because they were throwing stuff at the house...

I called school...they ignored me because they say it's off school property..
I called the cops and the operator called and talked to my daughter until I got home (45 min drive)...

The police officer said I could get a restraining order (aka peace order) so that the kids couldn't ride the bus...

Their parents came in the morning and apoligized....I told them what I would do if there was anything further.....

The girls left her alone but had marks on their juvenile records....

Don't let it get this bad..please

or at least tell the parents if the girl doesn't stop she will be videotaped and restaining orders filed and she WILL be kicked off the bus...(the parents are probably more afraid of having to make the effort to drive their kid and will tell her to leave your DD alone)

Again, I want to thank everyone for all the responses, they really have helped me sort this through in my head.

Well, DD had a good day and K never did anything today. Wouldn't you know it, DD finally decides to take a stand and then nothing happens. But, she is prepared for the next time and knows what to say.

I am still going to contact the school, and it just so happens my timing might be perfect. The school made an announcement today over the intercoms announcing a new "bully box" that is next to the office. Kids who are having problems or see another kid having a problem are encouraged to write a note and drop it in the box to help stop the problem. I thought that was pretty cool.

I am so sorry to read the other stories about kids being bullied. It just breaks your heart when you think of the kids who have endured it, and I am so glad schools are putting plans into action to stop it.

I will update again, hopefully this will be a thing of the past very soon. Thanks again everyone!!!

Sounds like a step in the right direction!! I hope it all works out.

Maybe K got the "vibes" from your dd. If your dd felt more confident in the situation maybe K kind of felt it....who knows????? I hope her bullying days are soon a thing of the past also.

Hmmm...maybe the thought that she could be reported in the "bully box" shut the little tyrant up. In any case, sounds like you and your DD have a plan that you both like. Continued good thoughts! Let us know if anything else happens!
