Like another poster, I had a car accident in 88 in my 76 VW bug..rolled it a few times and though lucky enough not to break anything, messed my neck up. After physical therapy, was good to go until about 96, I was 3 months pregnant with my youngest son and whamo..woke up one day with all the same symptoms, pain in neck, then to shoulder, then the tingling and numbness. Since I was preggo, only thing was to do physical therapy again 2times a week and take tylenol. Big whoop. But, physical therapy worked wonders again for me. It was some kind of traction machine this time. I tell you I never knew that kind of pain, would have 6 babies at one time naturally if God would just make sure my neck didn't act up again. In the last 8 months my neck has been bothering me again with occasional flare ups with the nerve pain in the left arm and tingling, numbness. I, too, have been told surgery is a step as the disc is bulging but not herniated. I do NOT want to have the surgery. I live in fear I won't be able to ride BTMRR again..stupid I know but my story.

I have not been taking any of the pain meds prescribed by the doc unless I really really have too. When I feel like it is starting up I start taking midol, use hot and cold compresses, and watch what I am doing. Like another said, seems like my problems start with I do the same task over an over again like folding laundry or wiping down walls. I have to make sure I don't overdo it in that area. Of course, dh said when I can't vacuum he would get a maid. But, I can vacuum a 100xs a week and NOTHING hurts...
Good luck...I know the pain. I haven't been to the chiropractor but I will say that physical therapy and following what they would like me to do has always worked wonders. I can be good as new for years at a time. When that fails I will move on. But surgery is my last ditch effort too.
