We about to build a deck and are having a debate about the material. We first planned on cedar but have heard that a new material, Trex, would last longer, withstand insects (carpenter bees) and look just as good. Anyone have experience with either?

I jsut built one last year 10 foot by 40 foot using ChoiceDeck which is very similar to Trex, just a different brand. I would Highly reccommend it!! It is very easy to work with and I did the posts and the entire railing system, hand rails, spindles etc and I love it. It costs a little more, but looks like wood, will not rot, don't have to worry about insects, never have to paint, stain or scrape it. Don't have to worry about wood splinters and bare feet, even wet it is not slippery.
