I know there are BYO Lightsaber stations in DTD, and we were going to build some this summer when we go to WDW.
We booked our plan tickets yesterday, and I was wondering if they were collapsible or not. Storing/taking home the lightsabers might be an issue, and I was wondeirng if anyone had any feedback on them.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

We have two of them. Yes they do collapse. You can also make them at Tattooine Traders outside of Star Tours in DHS. We opted to do ours at DTD because I know that as the mom I get to carry everything and I didn't want to carry a lightsaber around with me all day. Have a great trip!

Yeah, we plan on doing ours at DTD for the same reason. Only, my younger brother, nephew, and my boyfriend will be making them. haha
Thank you very much. It'll be much easier taking them home on the plane now!

My son made one a few years ago and it is collapsible. He had it in his backpack carry-on, though it did stick out a bit. We did take a piece of scotch tape over the end because it does not "latch" tight. He went through security just fine.

Have fun and don't worry!

i know this thread is a little old, but i had a question about the build your own lightsabers...

is there a choice of handles (or whatever they are called... sleeves maybe?)?
DS is already mentally planning what his will look like and i want to be able to warn him now that he might not be able to get it just the way he wants it.. :)

thanks!

Yes, you get to choose every part of the saber. You can choose to make a Jedi or Sith or mix it up! Have fun! My son still plays with his and he's 12!

They are collapseable and completely customizeable. Both my husband and my son made them on their last trip. We shipped the Darth Maul (two sided one) home as it was pretty big but the other ones were easily packed. As I type this my husband and son are having a lightsaber battle, lol. They have really gotten alot of use out of these.

Both my DH and my DS4 made 2 sided ones last trip. The actually fit well collpapsed and diagonal in the bottom of our largest suitcase.

Near Star Tours we received a pin with our lightsaber. We also were able to carry it on to the plane. :)

My son is so excited to build his own!!

I was wondering if someone can tell me how much these cost to build???

We made ours at Once upon a toy in DTD but you can also make thme at tatooine traders (the shop at the star tours exit in DHS) I cant remember the exact cost, maybe someone else can help there.

They do collapse, but not as much as I expected (depending on the design). It was still about a foot long. We let our kids play with them for a bit and then had them shipped back to our resort. It worked out great - just tell the CM. It is really cool to build them after the ride or after the Jedi Training Academy.

Have fun - oh and I think it was about $25.
