Build my own computer or buy from Best Buy? Advice, please

I've build a computer from the ground up
I've bought an HP laptop
and I've bought a macbook pro

Of the 3, I recommend a macbook pro

However, since that wasn't the question, I'd say build it(if thats what you mean by build your own) yourself. That way you know every component, where to get drivers, and deal with any repairs that come up. Dealing with a prebuilt is a pain in the butt.

I bought my DD a laptop for her 16th birthday from Best Buy, and they have been nothing but horrible. We bought the extended warranty, but it was a waste of money. Not to mention, the terrible customer service. Needless to say, we won't go back to BB.

I will say I've had my Hp laptop for going on 8 years and it serves my needs just fine. Brother has HP laptop and it works for him, I've had 3 HP desktops of my own plus DH and Brother each had/have one all without issues.

My Dad has a dell that has been in shop more than out and when he had to buy new keyboard he had to get special one from dell d/t connector or something, also his free dell printer became a paper weight and he's using my old hp printer I noticed. Coworker had to replace hard drive twice within 13 mos in her dell desktop and her computer isn't used as much as mine.

Also have had several casual friends/family have issues with their dells.

I personally love HP and have been happy with customer support but each person has to do what's best for them.

I pieced ( pick from choices) my laptop thru Staples and still had it shipped from HP and ordered my desktop direct from HP and I will say I had much better experience with direct buy. BUt next computer will probably be from Costco.
