Bugs!

They don't seem as bad today. There a lot of dead ones on the balcony this morning. You definitely could not leave your balcony door open at all or they would be inside your room. CM's were even telling us not to leave the doors open because of the bugs. Regardless a day at BLT is better than not.

We were at BLT October 12-19 and they were bad then also! We even saw someone trying to "sweep" them away from the ceilings near the elevators on the ground floor...but only one problem, they left the outside door propped open while cleaning them. It seems to me that more would come in...lol! I was at the Contemporary Lobby the night before we left to print off our bill and mentioned it to the CM and he didn't seem to know what I was talking about. Oh, well, we still had a fund time!

We were at Disney the end of October and on the ferry ride back it was covered!!! Thousands of them on the walls. It was gross but I new what they were so it did not bother me that much but I saw other freaking out a bit. There realy is not much you can do.

Good thing I had heard about these before our first visit! I hate bugs but at least the ones that we saw were not biting ones!! I just figured because Bay Lake is right outside my door that they were more prominent there. If we left our balcony door open they would fly in. Ick!

They were vacuuming them off the ceiling again this morning, YUCK!

So what are they?

It sounds like they're "midges" as a PP mentioned. They don't bite but they can sure make you itch by just looking at them.

We just returned from BLT and upon arrival, our master bedroom had 100's of those bugs on our ceiling and walls. I called the front desk and they sent an exterminator who just sucked them up. We never had any more issues with them. The only negative issue was we had a beautiful balcony view but the bugs made it impossible to sit outside. They don't fly around a lot but they covered the chairs and railings.

We were also told they don't bite. It was unnerving but NBD and not worth switching rooms. We were also warned to keep our balcony doors closed since that's how they get inside.

Any recent updates on the bugs. We arrive next week and hope they are gone. thanks

They were still there Sunday when we left. And like a pp stated, we didn't enjoy the balcony so much as bugs were everywhere.

Don't know why but this has been a problem since BLT was built, obviously something about that building that attracts them.

:confused3

We just got back from the Polynesian and hardly saw any there. In fact, the only place we saw them really thick were at Narcoossee's, outside walls of the GF (particularly on the construction walls between GF and Poly) and the monorail station at MK - they were all over the ceilings and upper walls there.

I wonder if having a MK view room will make it less likely to have them than a Lake View??? I sure hope so.

Midges for sure. We live right by Lake Erie and they come every year and last a few weeks. Our glass sliding door will literally be covered with what looks like thousands. They are a nuisance but harmless.

I noticed them (a swarm of them so it was pretty gross) walking from the boat dock to the hotel at WL last weekend (the weekend before Thanksgiving) in one particular area, but I did not notice them the rest of the week.

We had a beautiful TPV on the 8th floor and had the bugs.
