For anyone who has been @ FW in early October...........how are the bugs? I'm just wondering about packing the bug spray. Will we need it at all?:confused3

Thanks!

We visit the Fort almost every October, and have never had a problem with bugs.

In fact, I can't recall any visit, any time of year, when there has been a problem with bugs.

I think they do a lot of pest control around the Fort.

We live in Florida, and have been to some places where the mosquitoes literally attack you. I remember one trip, in particular, where I must have had twenty mosquitoes on me within the first sixty seconds of getting out of the car (and that was in September at Rainbow River State Park) But, we don't even bother with bug spray at WDW.

Ft Wilderness is sprayed at least once a week in the early morning (and I mean early - 4:30 - 5:00 ish) for mosquitoes. We stay at the Fort multiple times during the year & have never needed bug spray. The only place I ever encountered mosquitoes at the Fort was on Bay Lake behind the 300 loop watching the fireworks - and even then it wasn't too bad.

One type of bug we have encountered however, is ANTS!!! We have a motor home & have learned the hard way not to let any tree branches or shrubs touch your coach. Ants use the branches as bridges into your vehicle. We've never encountered ants from the ground getting into the coach! Go figure!! :confused3

We've never needed spray either. But, it never hurts to throw a can in with your other stuff, just in case! :flower3:

Yea, they also routinely spray for bugs, so that helps out during the summer months. In October you should be fine, you're at the very tail end of the summer-like heat, as Rhonda said, I would bring some just in case, but you should be fine!

Thank you so much for the "inside scoop". I really have been impressed with how the people on this board come to your "rescue". I have had so many questions answered while planning this trip. Thank you so much!:flower3:
