Bug Repellant?

One week from today we will be well on our way to WDW. This is our first August visit, and I'm wondering how bad the bugs will be. When we went in June, we did not need any sort of bug repellant, but perhaps it's different in August. Any advice? Also, we'll be spending a few days on the gulf coast...what about bug spray there? Thanks, in advance.

i don't think you will need any bug spray because i am sure they spray the parks a few hours before opening or something but i don't remeber putting on any bug spray last visit. but put on plenty on sunscreen, i learned my lesson the hard way.

I always take those bug repellent little towels in my fanny pack but have never needed it. I've seen reports of bug bites sometimes, that's why I always bring the little towels, but I never have needed them.

The only bugs that were a problem for us were the BEES in Animal Kingdom. One stung my DD (age 5) and she was miserable the rest of the day.

Beware of BEEEEES!

i'm guessing WDW sprays liberally. they wouldn't want bugs to interfere with anyone's perfect vacation.

I forget what time of year it was, but a person I work with had a horrible experience at Disney with their 2 little girls. Some type of bug was swarming (termites?) during the days they had booked at Disney. They left the first park after only a couple of hours because their little ones were getting bites all over them.

Disney refused to refund anyone. (Don't you think they have insurance to cover something like this?) I guess the parks were empty, since people left shortly after they entered due to getting bit.

Disney should've at least warned people prior to entering the park. That's the LEAST a reputable company should do in that situation.

"Enter at your own risk" is not a good policy.

Pray for no swarming, biting insects!!

If you are going to be at the parks late at night bring the bug repellent. We just got back a week ago and when we were there for E Night the bugs were biting us. But during the day it was ok.

my daughter is allergic to mosquitos and will get cellulitis every time she is bitten....I know they have biting flys in NJ and those don't cause a reaction but its mosquitos I am worried about...when you say tehre are bugs do you mean any old bug or mosquitos..thanks!

At night there were mosquitoes because the next day we had bites on our legs the next day.

Is there a time of year in Orlando that is worse for mosquitos or bees? In the north the mosquitos have been bad this summer and the yellow jackets are more agressive in August and September? How about at Disney?
