At the yard sale we had this weekend a group of ladies who stopped told us they use scented Bounce sheets to keep mosquitos and other biting bugs away. They each had a Bounce sheet stuck in their pocket, and swore they hadn't been bitten by any bugs the whole weekend while they were yard-saling. They didn't rub it on their skin, just stuck it in their pockets. I tried it on my 2 year old son, who had gotten several bites the day before, and after being out all day yesterday he did not have one bug bite! It never came into contact with his skin, we just put it deep down in his pocket. Anyone ever heard of this, or know of a reason they shouldn't be used?

I have not heard of bounce keeping bugs away from people, but I know if you put the sheets in your camper while it's locked up for the "non camping season", it will keep the mice and bugs out fo the camper. We tried it last year, and never had any little critters. Our friends, who store their camper right next to ours, had mice droppings everywhere when they picked it up for the season.

YES! I have heard of the bounce and bugs before. Never think to use it though; I just go straight for the spray. I'll have to put some in the camper to help with bugs. I was going to "bomb" it for bugs before every outing but if the bounce sheets work then I'll do that and save myself alot of cleanup!

Terri,

Yes it works.. I'm not sure how either.. I even put it in the cabinets where I store our linens (all year round) keeps them smelling fresh too.. I do replace them about every 6 months.
My mother in-in law swears cinnamon keeps ants away too. have not tried that yet as I don't want to sweep it up.
I also use the sheets to line the bottom of my hamper too..

happy camping

try cinnamon sticks instead of powder. are the dryer sheets good on spiders too?? so far our major problem has been lady bugs and I had to "bomb" to get rid of those (even though the pest control man said 'you can't kill those things'; well it worked and I only had to vacuum them up that one last time)

I had never heard of this, but I'll definitely be keeping some on the camper now, and be giving some of the other uses mentioned a try! ::yes::

LMC :)

Thanks .. will try the sticks..

NOPE! :( the spiders are still there.. hmm ya think they can't smell? :) DH is not a happy camper w spiders :(

lady bugs... oh!!!we have them big time here in missouri too... my sister in-law had the orkin people at her house 4 times.. I checked our TT which was on their property over the spring and luckily none were inside.. just those pesky mud dobbers in the heater area.. no matter what we do to seal it they always manage to get in.. humpf

That's a great idea to put the dryer sheets in the camper....never thought of that.

I never thought about the mud dobbers/wasps getting into the crevices in the camper; don't know why they are everywhere else! How do you seal off the fridge/heat/ac areas? We have only had our camper about 10 mo's so other than the lady bugs we've been pretty lucky about pests. I thought about hot glueing screen wire to the inside of each access panel then peeling it off before we use the camper each time. I figure hot glue would come off the easiest it; usually peels right off where tape would leave a sticky residue. I have to go out tonight and get the "Bounce" besides helping get rid of bugs, it will help whatever linens, clothes I leave in the camper smell fresh.

Very interesting! Now I have a good cover story if I accidently have one still stuck to my clothes out of the dryer!

Hi Lmc..

DH just sealed the heater area with screen( he used the regular dark window screen, He used a caulk, (I did ask about using the hot glue gun and I got a "look" Since he's the mechanic I just let it go:) .. later he said that might work but he was not sure how it would peel off...
He also used the same screen in the vent for the stove..

I spent an hour just sucking out the floor vents (spider webs, leaves etc.) and the teeny moths inside the light fixtures..

I put my halloween decorations in too :) we can't wait until October! :)

Did he put the screen on the inside of each panel? Have you used it this way for long? I am just concerned what the caulk or glue will do on those panels that heat up when in use. That is why I figured that I could just peel the hot glue off, but it would hold enough to keep the pests out. Also, do you use anything on the inside of your camper to close off the skylites to prevent fading while it sits out and is not in use? We don't have a canopy to put ours under yet.

Oh, how I wish we were going soon. I remember getting all our Halloween stuff out last year and we had a blast! Going Jan 1-8 but may add on a couple of days in December or stay at a KOA or something less expensive until we start our disney vacation. We'll miss all the Christmas decorating but we'll have AP's so plan on being at the parks ALL THE TIME!!!

I've gotta make our spring break ressies now too so I don't miss out. We plan to go at least 4 times next year.

Have fun and if you are going to MNSSHP don't forget to get your complimentary photo!

HI LMC...

have some answers for you.. :) ( we were camping this weekend )

Yes the screen is on the inside, he bought the caulk from the RV center where we purchased the TT.. ( he did say the hot glue should work too.)

For the sky lights we purchased (also from the RV store) window coverings.. they look like what you would use on your car windsheild.. except they stick on with velcro .. you just adhere it to the ceiling and it works great.. (they are silver colored ) Every once in a while I check to see if they are still up there.. heat can cause them to fall.. so I just added a few extra pieces of Velcro. :O)

I leave our shades down also.. we have the windows that crank out so air can get in and not rain :) so the windows are open pretty much most of the time. right now we have the TT in my mother-inlaws driveway.. so it's not covered with the tarp..
The winter time we have it covered w tarps at my brother in-laws place.

Im trying to talk DH into getting AP's for next year.. We have a family function in Orlando in June 05, and we plan on going back in the fall too soo it makes sense for the AP's :)

We can't wait until Oct.. Im working on my milk jug skeleton now.. the hot glue started to come apart after many years in the weather :)

Hope this helps.. any more questions just give a holler :)

What's a milk jug skeleton?????

Thanks for the other info! I'll get some covers for the sky lites and after football season, cover the vented areas w/ screen.

hI :O)

it's a pattern I found about 11 yrs ago in a Family Fun magazine... for a skeleton made out of milk jugs.. ( the large family size works the best)

he has survived a decade of "hanging out" the glue was turning yellow..

they call him bottle bones.. :) takes some time but it's fun to do :)

I found some smaller milk jugs at the local gas station ( had choco milk in it) for the head so we have a small one for Sophia and Allison has the bigger one

here is the link.. let me know if it doesn't work :)
