Bug question, slightly gross

I have been getting bug bites at night. We live in a very old house and it is not unusual to get spider bites but generally you can find those little buggers and put an end to it and they only bite once or twice. Today I am covered in welts that have an itense itch. We have cleaned the bedroom top to bottom. We have cleaned the mattress and under the bed and ever where else. Often my DD sleeps with me and she is not getting any bites. I can't match anything up on the internet. My cat did sleep with me but I checked him for fleas and there are no signs of fleas on him or in the house (plus winter is just ending here in Iowa and fleas are not commen for us now). Does anyone have ANY idea what this might be? The welts are concentrated on my chest/shoulder/arm area. But I do have bites on my tummy and legs/feet. I first suspected bed bugs and we stayed in a not so nice motel on the way home from Disney....but there are NO signs of bed bugs!! Aggg! I can't fix the problem if I don't know what it is!

Are you sure it isn't an allergic reaction? Have you changed laundry detergent recently? It's weird that your DD hasn't gotten bitten and you have.

It sounds like bed bugs to me. They are small and hard to find.

I would have a hard time sleeping knowing there are bugs bitting me at night.
Maybe you should call an exterminator.

Nope haven't changed anything. I think it's weird too that DD hasn't gotten a bite, unless I'm reacting horrible and she is having no reaction.

This was my original thought also except all the research I've done said there will be pinpoints of brown if bed bugs are present because they ingest blood. I have white sheets, there is nothing on them!

I am having a hard time sleeping, actually I stay up waiting so I can see what is biting me. Tonight I'm sleeping on the couch. We're going to schedule the exterminator but I wish I could tell him what's biting me!

Am really sorry for your problem and hope you get it fixed real quick.

I think that you gave them to me as I am scratching now just thinking about all those bugs.
