Anyone else come back with bug bites? We got back last Tuesday from POFQ and my daugter and I are still itching from bites all over our legs. I never felt any bugs bite but boy do they itch now!!

Stayed at AKL last August and the same thing happened on my return. I was the only one of the four of us to have this unfortunate experience. I never felt anything while on vacation, but was definitely uncomfortable when we returned home. I had read on another thread that another on-site hotel may have been contending with bed bugs. Not sure if this is related.

Just got back from AKL and we got mosquito bites too. We spent a lot of time out on the balcony and that is when they got us.

Oh no, do you think they could have been bed bugs?!?!?! That whole thread about the bed bugs completely disgusted me. I don't want to hear that POFQ has them. lol ;)

Back in Oct 1996, I got attacked by fire ants at POFQ. Was standing near the marina, taking photos of the island. Luckily had insect bite and sting medicine back in the room.

I also remember the mosquitos being bad along the Sassagoula.

Depending on the time of year, you will probably want to take insect repellant and first aid.

any recommendations to help keep the little "buggers" @ bay? DEET? Other?

About five years ago, I woke up and saw these huge red bites on my ankles. They itched like crazy, but I just put some Neosporin on them and we went off to DD. Well, over the course of a few hours, my ankles started to swell (which had never happened to me before) and the itching was so intense, I felt like clawing my skin off.

We went back to the GF and I called my doctor. I described the bites and he said they were chigger bites. I had never heard of these before but he asked if I had been standing near water. There was a puddle in Mickey's Garage and I stood by it while we watched the fireworks.

He called in a cortisone pack to the pharmacy and the itching went away after one day. I still have scars from scratching.

My doctor told me not stand near standing water at night and not to use scented lotion - especially anything that smells sweet. Needless to say, I had apple lotion all over my body and basically stood in a puddle.

during our stay last summer we ran into these buggers, locals call them "no see em's" and they bite like crazy and later on your legs look like you have a case of the measles and plenty of itching going on. we used cold compresses and anti-itch cream. it took a few days for the itch to go away.

I am an unfortunate natural target of bug bites but I have never had a real problem at WDW...perhaps it's the time of year we go. However, my trip to Germany in August? 50 bug bites in one week...I looked like a Survivor All-Star.
