OK, its a very geeky question, but I am curious what you think.
In the last episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Giles returned to Sunnydale.... or did he? Did anyone notice that he almost never took his hands out of his pockets? He never touched anyone or anything. My wife and I played the tape back to be sure (yes, I know, I told you we're geeks). He is also putting a lot of pressure on Buffy, telling her that she is the only one who can save the world so that she does not reach out to her friends. This is clearly not helping.
I suspect that Giles is dead (just as the end of the prior episode hinted) and that we are seeing "the first" in Giles Form. Remember, the first can only assume the form of someone who has died (meaning Giles is dead) and is not solid while in this form (which explains the lack of touching anything). Opinions?
Bonus question: Is it really Buffy's mom who is appearing to her in her dreams? The dream mom seems more helpful than the "first" version that appeared to Dawn (in one of the scariest scenes I have ever seen on TV).
