Buffets when breakfast turns into lunch

I'd like to book the latest breakfast possible at Tusker House, which seems to be 10:55. Lunch starts at 11:00.

We absolutely do not want the lunch. We did it last year and most of us didn't like it.

Will the breakfast food be available until we are finished eating? Or will I need to tell the kids to load up everything they want the first time they go to the buffet because if they go back up at 11:15 it may be gone?

Thanks for your help.

They will start changing over at 11 but will leave breakfast items out as well. However, some things may run out and won’t be replenished at that point, so yes, a second trip to the buffet after 11 may mean your favourite breakfast foods are gone.

Tusker house often seats people late, so I would take that into consideration and consider booking closer to 10:30-10:45 to make sure you have time to eat breakfast food. We had a 10:30last year, got seated about 10:50. We were warned that the changeover was imminent so to be sure to grab any breakfast items we wanted right away, and then to help ourselves to lunch once it appeared. There was still some breakfast left when people went up a second time, but not everything.

Like the previous poster stated, it depends on how much is left and when they start to switch over. I'd see if I could get an early ADR honestly to ensure you got the breakfast selection you wanted.
When I went last year, it was all switched over no later than 11:30.

If you absolutely don't want the lunch food, I would not suggest booking the latest possible breakfast. As others have said, the breakfast foods should be out for a bit, but maybe not long enough for several trips to the buffet (especially if you don't get seated on time, which happens frequently in my experience).

I would book for no later than 10:15 (or even earlier) if you only want breakfast. We had a 10:15 reservation and didn’t get sat until 10:35. After waiting for our waiter, catching a character because they approached our table while our waiter was still doing their welcome/drink order, we didn’t make it to the buffet until 10:45. By the time we wanted a second plate at 11:00 most breakfast items were gone and what was left was picked over. I was disappointed because a few items I wanted seconds of were gone.

I think your odds of getting any breakfast food are slim.

We had a late breakfast at Tusker House last year (maybe 10:40 or so). Our first trip through the buffet was total breakfast, but right about 11, they moved what was left of the breakfast to the little center island and the main areas all became lunch.

You probably want to try and move your ADR to closer to 10 if you want to make sure there is lots of breakfast foods.

Thanks for your replies.

It sounds like I just need a different plan. I don’t want to lose the morning to a meal.

I have 2 days planned at AK and I’m having a hard time with meals. We’ll go to Yak and Yeti one day.

I’m stumped on this other day. Tiffins is 2 dining credits. Walking out to Rain Forest is a giant pain and time suck. And last year dinner at Tusker House was awful for us.

Just do QS or go to a resort for dinner.

AK has some of the best QS...Satuli Canteen and Flame Tree are both great options

How about pricing? do breakfast and lunch are the same? or you get charge for breakfast even when lunch food is out? I’m on the same situation, ADR for 10:45 am, my intentions are to have a late breakfast/lunch. But obviously whe expect to eat breakfast food. Was looking at lunch menu and it will work for us if they take the breakfast items while we are there.

If you’re seated during breakfast you get charged for breakfast, but still can eat the lunch items. I assume it’s true that if you reserved breakfast, you get charged for breakfast, even if they seat you after 11,since that’s what you planned on and it’s not your fault they sat you late.

I'd plan something else for this day. We had the family-style dinner at Pizzafari and loved it. (It's still only 1 QS credit for the family-style dinner.) Personally, I'd do breakfast at Rainforest Cafe when you first get to the park and then do dinner at Pizzafari later. OR I'd just pay out-of-pocket for Rainforest's breakfast and use that extra TS credit for a special 2-credit meal on a different day. Best wishes!
