Can anyone recommend some places for dinner/supper near WDW? Buffets? Menu? American cuisine? Chinese? Informal and reasonably priced or even cheap would be good. :goodvibes
We will be at Disney for 3 to 4 weeks, and I thought some places outside would be nice to try. :cool1:

We visit Sweet Tomatoes pretty often (at least once a month, I think), and it's one of our favorite casual places to go when we want a salad. You can check out the menu they'll have (it changes every two weeks) on their website up to four weeks in advance:

3 or 4 weeks!! Good grief, you must be loaded!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Have a great time!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

It's our first real vacation together...and we've been together 10 years. :love2: And we may never have the opportunity to go to WDW again. So, we decided to do it for 3 to 4 weeks, and relax. Also, one of us has a health problem and commando/rambo touring cannot happen.
I'm really looking forward to our holiday. I've learnt a lot from fellow Disers.

We ate at a buffet on I-drive, near Beltz mall, on the right hand side of the street. I am not sure what the name is, I think it is called ________ junction. Great food, pasta is made to order, chicken and steak to your liking, great desserts. When you are seated they bring you a large corn cake, drizzled with butter. We went back a second time, it was that good.

Is it Whistle Junction? I haven't eaten there but I've seen it many times and have been curious if it's any good.

there are also Ponderosa Steak House - not so bad - but as cheap as Orlando area gets.

when are you going?

if for a while (6 weeks) get the visitor guide from both kissimmee
www.floridakiss.com

and orlando
www.orlandoinfo.com

these are both visitor/convention bureas for their areas and are pretty fair about recommendations. they aren't trying to push one area over the others.

I highly recommend New York China Buffet near Cypress Point. Their lunch buffet is less than $7. They have a huge selection and I think many of the dishes are great. I try to arrive at opening time (11:00) when food is fresh and hot. There is a coupon in the orange Orlando folding map for 10% off.

After long days in the parks, I get so tired that I need a day to sleep in. I hit an early lunch at New York China Buffet before spending the rest of the day at the parks. It is a nice change of pace.

I went once for dinner, but it is hard to know how long the food has been sitting out. It was not as good as lunch when they first open.

Sweet Tomatoes is good anytime. I make it there at least twice during any trip.

Hi, and welcome to Disney area..

For price and good food can't beat the Golden Corral on hwy 192 just west of Disney...Breakfast is excellent and dinner is also great for the price. Very crowded so the food is always very fresh.

Angels is the only place I would disagree with...20 to 25 dollars for all the overcooked lobster and crab you can eat, but there is ONE line and it gets very very long. I have seen close to fist fights for those who cut in...and that was our last trip.

Good luck

My dad went to Angel's at 5:30 and the line for the buffet was out the door. Seems to always be packed.

I'm not a huge fan of buffets, but we do enjoy Villa de Flora at the Gaylord Palms (which is an experience in itself). It's literally just off WDW property (bottom right hand corner just beyond Pop Century and Wide World of Sports) at the junction of International Drive South and the Osceola Parkway.

Villa de Flora is our favorite restaurant!!! The scenery, food and service is outstanding, we try to go once a month.

We thought Angel's food was horrible. It even looked terrible. The corn on the cob looked brown. The food was dried out. We definitely won't go there again but was wondering if they are any other lobster buffets that are any good?

Thanks.

We like Golden Corral for breakfast and Sweet tomatoes for either lunch or dinner. Sweet Tomatoes is a must do for us! We don't have them here in NJ.

We'd like to check out Villa De FLora. Gaylord palms looks beautiful!

My kids were raised on Old Country Buffet, and we have done the Golden Corral thing a handful of times while in Orlando. Whistle Junction sounds like it is better than both of the above mentioned places. Can anyone who was there recently elaborate on the location (DH was less than happy when I had him drive around for an hour looking for Club Car, which is about 10-15 minutes away from WDW), and the current state of the food choices? How about the price? 10.99 sounds great, if that's still the price. Do they charge a dicounted price for DD2 and DD12? ;)

Budget Buffets

Heading to Animal Kingdom on Osceola Pkwy west, bear left away from the toll plaza towards AK Lodge, left at lgith onto Sherberth (south). Next light is 192, right (west) and then take mid block left to find Shoney's buffet, Golden Corral is almost next to it.

Or if you headed further west on 192, past the construction, third or second light on left is Ace Chinese buffet (and Howard Johnson motel).

Going east on Buena Vista past Downtown Disney and right onto Hotel Plaza Blvd. go to end, Crossroads Plaza with expensive Goodings supermarket is straight ahead but instead go left (onto 535 away fro I-4). One block next left still following 535 and immediately left into a driveway is another nice Chinese Buffet. If you went straight where 535 made its left bend a block from Crossroads, there is another Shoneys buffet on the left and another Chinese buffet (next to Kinko's) in a plaza on the right about a half block later.

Thanks Grandpa Ted.
DH doesn't care much for seafood...I think a food allergy can do that to you. So, I guess I'll miss out on some down home Florida entertainment at Angels...fist fights for cutting in line. :rotfl2: Actually I would have felt I was at home.

The Golden Corral is high on the list for a place to eat.

It looks like there are alot of places close by to Disney to eat at...especially buffets.
Spiceycat or anyone...what are the Ponderosas like?
Thanks :)
