I much prefer a sit down dinner. A wedding I went to a year before we had ours had a family style, that was nice, too. I like staying at my table and not waiting in line for food. I also like that I'm most likely the only one (besides staff) that has touched my food. I am not a huge fan of buffets anywhere.
To me a sit down dinner is more formal and guest-friendly. Especially at a wedding where there's some older guests that might have a hard time with a buffet.

ya just never know, I been to some real nice weddings, where you think about it at the end of the year and was one of the high lights, but also been to some where they just have a bunch of fried chicken, potato salad, beans, water Mellon and cans of cold beer and you end up laughing so hard and having a great time (they key is always the people, are they fun)

26 years ago we had ours "family style" which was VERY unusual for the time, but we loved it, the food was hot, plentiful, and we didn't have to get up to get it ;).

Here in the upper Midwest 95% of the ones we've gone to since then have been buffet, with only a few "fancy" ones being sit down (and honestly I hated that the food wasn't that hot and tasted as though it had been sitting plated for awhile).

I do appreciate a separate salad plate for the "cold" items, and a large one for the hots, though!

Sit down with passed cocktail service. I'm a clumsy menace, I don't need to be carrying food.

As long as the food is good, I don’t care.

The last few weddings I have been to were buffet . We had a buffet as well. It was a small wedding of 52 people.

Sit down. Do not want to stand in line, or walk with a plateful of food. When we were looking at venues (38 years ago), some offered a buffet or sit down. The buffet was more expensive as they said they have to make more food. We didn’t want a buffet anyway, just prefer a sit down.

Most of the weddings I have been to have been sit down. It is more traditional that way here in New England. That being said you are usually having chicken when it's sit down. I kind of like buffets because there is usually more of a variety of food offered, but I totally understand why a buffet might be a harder for older guests and guests who have trouble getting around.

I prefer sit down, but most weddings I have been to (including my own) were buffet style. Our wedding was very inexpensive ($3,000 10 years ago included my gown and his tux and was for 80 guests), and I was relatively happy with our food. I made sure everyone knew it was going to be pretty casual as we were paying everything ourselves. I *think* everyone had a great time!

Hate buffet at an event of any kind when all the guests are expected to eat at the same time. The last wedding we attended that was buffet had 150 + guests at 14 tables. Taking turns it took over an hour for everybody to serve themselves and finish eating; the speeches started while many people were still in line. Awkward.
