Buffet Etiquette?

If it looks good--EAT it!! alot of it too!!

I've actually heard of some people who go to the dessert buffet first to choose what they want and then head over to the main buffett. That way they get to choose their dessert and they know what they need to save room for. I've never done this myself...and I usually miss out on dessert. But I usually tend to prefer the main meal to the dessert selections - although not always.

we almost always order our dessert first when eating out. We have dessert instead of an App. then we eat our main meal. Sometimes the servers think its strange but what they do not know is we ARE strange :rotfl: .

When our daughter has friends come to dinner with us, they think its funny, I do make them eat their food in the traditional order.

And, I am just the opposite when my DD has a friend come to dinner -- if I'm in a playful mood, I let them have dessert first (and sometimes dessert only!). Nothing worse than paying for the hot dog meal at $7 that they take four bites of and then having to pay for dessert as well. Really, can you tell her friend that if she doesn't eat everything on her plate, she can't have dessert? :rotfl2:

In the hot weather, we consider banana splits a nutritional meal: banana and strawberries for fruit, ice cream for dairy, nuts for protein and God knows we all get enough starch in our diets :rotfl:

I personally prefer Bloody Marys with a shrimp floating above. Same idea: tomatoe juice for fruit, celery for vegetable and shrimp for protein.

Get the idea? :teeth:

Lots of great tips!

Don't know if I missed this one, but kids under 10 (or thereabouts) should NEVER be sent up to the buffet on their own. They often causes messes or do etiquettally (made up a new word) questionable things, but worst of all they could easily burn themselves or get hurt underfoot another buffet-goer.

I also tip at buffets, and stack dirty plates on one side of the table.

I also say, don't take the steamer trays back to the table!! (I read this happening in another post, the poster said it happened at Crystal Palace!!!!)

I usually do one plate of cold items (salad, fruit, etc.) and another plate of hot. Then go back for another (yes, don't look at me like that!) plate of my favorites. (I take very tiny tastes the first time around) Then dessert!

My favorites are Trail's End (for sheer value!) and Boma breakfast, though I am trying Crystal Palace and Cape May Cafe this time around!

Have a fabulous time! Enjoy!

Omgoodness!! Someone actually DID that??? Unreal!! :earseek:

Observed last week at CP:
Somebody stuck their finger in the peanut butter and dipped out a fingerful (an adult).

At Boma:
Somebody asked the chef: "Is that stuff (Pap) as disgusting as it looks?"

Don't do either of those things :cool1:
