Buffet, Character, Shows, AYCTE Pricing (rev: 06/30/2019)

This thread is a great help when planning trips. We are going on a Disney YES trip in March. We plan on purchasing Dining Cards in advance, 2 of our reservations could not be made through WDW groups. So I've seen a price increase since we booked our March trip, TH and CP.

Post 1 indicates next price increase, February 2017. Will that be closer to the beginning of month or mid-month? Thanks!

what character shows/dinners should we make sure to do? We are doing the 4 day park ticket!

Is this your first visit? If so, maybe pick *one* character meal to focus on. I found that for a seven-day trip, two was about the right number---one "fur" and one "face". (Fur are the characters that wear heads: Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, etc. Face characters do not: Princesses, etc.)

Not sure where to ask this question. We are doing ddp plan for the 1st time and I made reservations at place's that offered buffet style meals. I was looking closer to the fine print just the other day and It said that the family style and buffet were not all you care to eat on the ddp plan. So do they actually monitor to see how many times you go up. We are going as a family of six and I have an ok appetite, but my 15y/o son and 20y/o daughter have hollow legs. Can anyone advise me on this ???

Can you take a screen shot or write a direct quote? This would be a new rule and one that's not enforceable at a buffet.

Booking Information
- Most Walt Disney World Resort table service restaurants that accept reservations can accommodate Kosher needs if requested at least 2 Days in advance by 407-WDW-DINE.

At Family Style or Buffet locations Guest will only receive one meal, this will not be all-you-care-to-eat. Guests will be charged the regular buffet or all-you-care-to-eat price.

Guests using their package entitlements for dining will be able to mirror those entitlements for Kosher Meals (ex. if the package entitlements are 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 dessert, then the Guest may order 1 Kosher appetizer, 1 Kosher entree, and 1 Kosher dessert.

I am pretty sure that this refers to only Kosher meals. These meals are specially prepared, and therefore not part of the actual buffet. That is why it says the guest will only receive one meal- the chef will prepare one full Kosher meal for the person to eat at the restaurant instead of them eating from the buffet.

Interesting. You know, I've read reviews where guests commented that getting more food to the table, at a place like 'Ohana for breakfast, was hit and miss. I can't imagine they'll be policing an actual buffet. One goes up for different courses and the server has better things to do than count how many courses each person has!

I looked at the dining plan page and the brochure and didn't see that rule included.

Edit - Re: Kosher. That may be true, but if it applied to only Kosher meals then it would make more sense to include the restriction with the same paragraph.

I agree- there is no way the server can "police" this. Plus it would be a discrimination issue, too, I would think. If you look at the part Kagoguen pasted, it all seems to refer to Kosher meals. That makes a lot more sense than having it apply to anyone on the dining plan. I would be helpful if they indicated that it was only for Kosher, but it does seem to be implied since the rest of that section is all about Kosher meals.

I have read that many times, and each time wondered what it meant, as I know you are not limited in your visits to the buffet. For it to be referring to Kosher meals makes the most sense, despite the paragraph break. Because of needing to order Kosher meals at least 2 days before and needing a Rabbi to oversee the preparation, they couldn't just make seconds if you wanted more, like they can with gluten-free or vegetarian, etc. (I would guess they would make a good size serving, though.)

The original question came up to see if being on the DDP limited your ability to eat all you care to at an AYCTE restaurant. So the discrimination I referred to was DDP being limited vs. cash customers receiving AYCTE. I cannot see how that would make sense.

My conclusion was that it was not directed at DDP customers but at people receiving Kosher meals, and is not discriminatory due to the reasons the pp said- meal prep and needing a rabbi. So this was a disclaimer statement.

Just wondered if you agreed or if something different was occurring that I missed?

Went back and looked at one of my ADR confirmation emails, and you're correct, it's there.

However, point is still valid. The quoted information is CLEARLY under the Kosher meal bullet point.

It includes "standard" beverages. Water, tea, soda, and coffee.
