We are flying to Orlando out of Buffalo in a little over a month. I am looking for a hotel near the Buffalo airport. I have seen many on line but I am interested if anybody has stayed in any of them. I am curious to hear about your opinion of the hotel etc....was it clean, quiet, etc...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

We have stayed at the Homewood Suites on Dick Rd. several times and always had a good visit. This hotel is not far from the airport. Before we discovered this hotel we always stayed at the Hampton Inn out near SUNY on Williamsport Hwy but that gets really crazy when the students are returning to school.

Hope you find something that works for you.

Julie

Hey Olivia, welcome to the DIS!

If you pop over to the Canadian board you will see lots of info on Buffalo hotels. Alot of us drive over the boarder to snag a cheaper flight.

We have stayed at the Homewood Suites (loved it but quite expensive now, we paid $89 in Feb '05 and when I checked in Sept '05 it was $159) and the Holiday Inn Express - liked it but noisy near the pool. Next time we would stay at the HIE but definately get a better room location!

Thanks for the help. We have booked at the Suites on Dick Rd and I was pleased with what they could offer me for 89.00.
Thanks again

Olivia

Hi Olivia-
I see that you already booked but wanted to offer some info on another hotel. We've stayed at the Comfort Suites (corner of Dick Road & Genesee Street) and we've been happy with the rooms there. We can often get a room for under $80/night, they have a microwave & fridge in each room, indoor pool and free breakfast. The biggest perk is that they allow you to park your vehicle in their lot (behind the hotel by the pool area) and you don't pay for airport parking. They have a shuttle that will take you back & forth to the airport, they even have a direct phone at the airport terminal to pick up when you get back in town.

The savings have been worth it for me! While the hotel is older than Homewood Suites (built in 1991 or so--I used to live down the road from it before we moved to Rochester) the sheets are clean and they offer a good value.

HTH!

Hi Olivia,

Can you pls advise how you booked for $89 (ie through expedia, called hilton h/o etc). Also, is the rate park & fly? We would definately go back to the Homewood Suites for $89 but I havn't been able to find that price.

Thanks.

I went to google and typed in Comfort Suites. I then chose the hotel on Dick Road becase that was the one I was interested in. There was an 1-800 number which I called. This number is for all the Comfort hotels/suites etc.. I told her I was interested in Buffalo on Dick rd. She gave me the run down on the hotel etc....and the price for one night weekday- Thursday night was $89. It includes breakfast in the morning, shuttle to the airport and return, and the best part is they will keep my car for the week we are away. All included in the price. SO I thought that was a good deal. They have a computer room where I can print off my boarding passes, Southwest, before I leave for the airport. And my kids are most excited about the pool!! LOL LOL Any more questions feel free to drop me a line.

Take care

Olivia

Olivia-
Looks like you booked into the Comfort Suites I mentioned above, hope you enjoy your stay there!

DutchsMommy-The Homewood Suites is a little further down Dick Road and on the opposite side of the street from the Comfort Suites she mentioned. They definitely are more $$$ there, not sure if they are worth it or not. We've only stayed there once when we were visiting relatives in Buffalo and thought the Comfort was a better value.

We also stayed at the Comfort Suites last year and it it was great. The breakfast started at about 4:30 am so that was a real plus for people with early flights. We paid $89 plus tax on a Friday night. I like that we could park for two weeks at no extra cost.
To note:
There are 2 floors and no elevators. We had a ton of luggage/stroller/car seat with us and were assigned a room on the second floor. This year we have requested a room on the first floor.
The pool area is nice and the shuttle very quick.
The rooms are huge with two beds, plus a full sizr coffee table and a pull out couch. There is also a microwave and small fridge in each room.
My only complaint was that it was not a brand new hotel and the lighting in the rooms was a little dim.

We are flying out of Buffalo too. I think that comfort inn is where we are staying as well. Dh wants to drive straight to the airport but Im not sure...

I cannot remember where I read it or maybe I dreamt it ...LOL But I was looking for someone that had sent themselves a package at Walt Disney World and the picked it up when they arrived. Thinking about sending all the snacks ahead of time so I do not have to worry about them in the suitcase.

Thanks in advance

Olivia

Olivia-
You certainly can send a package down to the resort in advance. Just be sure to include your confirmation or reservation number and your name/arrival date. I've sent packages down via FedEx before and just watched to see when it was delivered, called down and spoke with someone at the resort to make sure they held the package at Bell Services until we arrived.

GL!

We've used the park and fly with the Holiday Inn near the airport. You get your room, you leave your car at the hotel, and you get free, 24-hour shuttle service back and forth to the hotel. When you return from your trip and get your luggage, use the courtesy phone to call the hotel. They drop you off at your car and you can simply leave. There is a parking tag in your car that you give to the shuttle driver and you are set to go. Very easy. It is close, they have a restaurant in-house where kids under 12 eat free. They probably have 2 queen beds or I wouldn't have selected it for our family of 5.

Bell Services is the group that handles the luggage & packages at the resort. There is a large room, usually in the front of the resort, where luggage is stored either after you arrive until it is delivered to your room, or when you're ready to check-out before you leave for your flight. They will be the people hanging onto your package if it gets there before you arrive.

I forgot that you are in Canada, right? I'm not sure about using snail mail from Canada, personally--except for my eBay stuff, I just use FedEx because I have an account with them and they offer tracking so I know when it arrives.

hope this helps!

Thank you for replying. Yes I am in Canada and I can still send it so I can track it. Something similiar to Fed Ex.
So I would address it to the hotel we are staying at correct??

Thanks

Olivia

I love this hotel. When I first moved to Buffalo, I had an awful time with my apartment and had to stay in a hotel for a few days. Great service and rooms!
