Hey everyone!
Not long now til DLRP, and we were planning on finally making a visit to Buffalo Bills.
We tried to go last time we were there, last June, but on the nights we wanted to do it there were no shows :furious:

Anywho, was just wondering if anyone has done it, and what the show and food are like?

Have seen mixed reviews and would appreciate any advice as it is fairly expensive

:)

It is fairly expensive but, I think you will get your moneys worth if you get into the spirit of things!

First off, the food IMHO, is not great. Children get a few warmed up, from the feezer veg, couple of little potatoes, a sausage and a chicken wing. Grown-ups get a bowl of chilli (ok), same veg and potatoes, a chicken wing and a piece of rib(I think). There are chocolate mousses for the children for pudding (from a carton) and the grown ups get apple cobbler(the cobbler was nice). Plus unlimited coke/beer/water and tea or coffee at the end. The food is not of great quality and because they dish it out all at the same time - working along the tables - it is not always piping hot.

But in all honesty, I can overlook the poor food because the atmosphere is so great. You really need to be in pantomime mood and fully prepared to participate with boo's and cheers all through the night. You will all be given a cowboy hat in the colour of your 'team' and it is the audiences job to support their team of cowboys/indians that are in the arena (and of course BOOOOO the opponents). DH and I yelled so loud that we came away with sore throats. You will also be encouraged to bang your cutlerly, your metal plates and wave your hats like all good cowboys should.

There were people sat near us that spent the whole time looking glum because, obviously shouting 'ye-haw' was below them!! If you aren't going to take part - don't go. But if you've got your 'hollerin' voice on - you will have a mighty fine night cowboy!

i agree with quack, we did buffallo bills last friday night, at 6.30pm and it was full to the brim, the food was average, but it was the atmosphere that was great, the kids enjoyed it, the food we got was bowl of chilli with corn bread, followed by chicken quater which was ok but a bit pinky, mixed veg, rib steak which was lovely, potatoes, and a lovely sausage, then followed by apple cobbler which was lovely, they say its unlimited drinks but we were only offered 2 glasses of lager/coke/juice and coffe at the end, but they don't do milk so it was black and yucky, but the atmosphere was great, i lost my voice for 2 days, you have to enter into the spirit of the banging, heehaying etc, its not what everyone likes but we thought it was great, and the kids went free so that helped, i don't know if i would do it again, once done i think is enough, i am sure you will enjoy it, i have photo's and will post later.

Its a great show! :thumbsup2 I've seen it once now and will be going back on my next visit.

I love the corn bread & chilli.

My tip would be to have a quick couple of drinks (alcohol :goodvibes ) in the bar before hand to get you in the mood, it really helps.

The beer they serve with the meal must be very low alcohol, I think.

We were at the same show as Quack last week, and I don't hold a grudge, even though Blue should've won not Green (between you and me I think they cheated :rolleyes1 ).
My opinion is do it for the show alone, as Quack says - if you're willing to participate you'll have a fantastic night. If you enjoy the food as well - look at it as a bonus.
Despite the food, we've done the show twice - it's great fun.

Y'all come - yeehaw!!!

I agree with the above posts, and despite having done it on our last trip we did it again this time on the tuesday 9.30 show and loved it, again!

The food isn't gourmet, but then you haven't paid for gourmet. The chilli has too mnay beans for my liking but I really like the corn bread, potatoes and the apple cobbler is to die for!
My MIL and I bought a bottle of wine to share and I had beer in my glass too so Matt could keep his beer levels up!

I think I might do it on the next visit too, when ever that might be, unless I win the competition we entered whilst there, fingers crossed!

Another :thumbsup2 for Buffalo Bill's. We all enjoyed it from DD2 1/2 to Grannie :)

I agree with the others. The food is nothing to shout home about but it is much better than I expected after reading some of the reviews. As the others have said, you need to participate to get full enjoyment out of the show. Put it this way, you can make as much noise as you like as no-one there knows you! :lmao: :lmao:

I've been to Buffalo Bill's twice now, once in 1994 and in December with Disneyfoo, both times I've thoroughly enjoyed it!

The food is OK, I enjoyed it, but you really do go for the atmosphere... And the buffalo, they're so cute!

The first time I just liked the whole thing, plus I was only 9, so I didn't really know what was going on.
This time, though, I could appreciate the training that all the horses and riders had been through, and how cute the cows were!

Both times I've bought the souvenier photo, and I've still got the hats as well! One red and one blue, hoping for a yellow or a green next time we go! (Knowing Disneyfoo, there will be a next time!!)

I was able to buy tickets for the 9:30 show at about 5pm the same day, and the show was far-from full.
(First time I went was in March, and it was packed-out. Although, the park had only been open 2 years, so that could have had something to do with it)

Thanks very much for the info everyone, really appreciated!
Like most people have said it was the food that id not heard great things about, and from the sounds of what they give you i'd probably only eat the meat, potatoies and dessert.

Think we'll have to give it a go tho, every one of the 7 times weve been before we were always thinking about it but just never did, so i think were long overdue!

Oh and as were in the Cheyenne it would oinly be fitting to keep up with the cowboy spirit!!

I don't know if I've asked this anywhere before but will I feel an idiot going on my own?

No, I don't think so. Although the meals are served individually, the bread platter is shared between three so one of my DDs and I shared ours with a lady from the next group to us. So you tend to break the ice by saying "Bonjour" to your neighbour anyway.

The show is so action packed that you don't get chance to chat either, you are too busy cheering your team on! LOL :cool1: :cool1:

The only time you may feel a little out of it is in the pre-show area where people are having a drink and chatting whilst they wait. If you think you are likely to feel a little awkward here, you could just arrive nearer the show time rather than the hour before as they suggest. :goodvibes
