Anyone know anything about Hotwire?
This seems reasonable to me.

Did you check out USairways directly? It seems they have rates a little lower for that time frame but the flight times might not be that good. Also, SWA usually has cheaper fares when you fly out on Tu, We and Sats.

If these don't produce good results, then I think $188 is good. I am paying $206 for Easter week......which is generally higher.

I think you could do better booking SWA yourself. I just checked their site and this is what I found for your travel days:
Wed, April 30th
N/S flight-Depart Buffalo (BUF) at 7:30 AM
Arrive in Orlando (MCO) at 9:55 AM

90.50 w/ all taxes & fees

Sat, May 10th
N/S flight-Depart Orlando (MCO) at 10:25 AM
Arrive in Buffalo (BUF) at 1:00 PM

114.50 w/all taxes & fees

So R/T would be 205.00 /person instead of over 381 thru Hotwire.

Thanks guys-knew I could count on you!! I love
these boards.

momrules,
I don't know if you'd be interested in this or not but it could save you some good money for a little extra travel time. Delta is showing a fare of 139.50 all taxes included from BUF to TPA (Tampa is about an hour outside of Orlando, I think) for your time frame. It is not a N/S but the flight times looked pretty good to me. (One left BUF at 8:30am putting you at TPA around 12:30.) I've been keeping an eye on airfare for our summer trip and thought I'd check for you while I was at it. I've never flown into Tampa but would certainly consider it for this fare. We live in Syracuse - could you by any chance recommend a clean inexpensive hotel near the airport in Buffalo?

hulagirl-I'm in the same boat as you-We live 2-1/2 hours away from Buf. A nice clean hotel and park n'fly for 12 nights would
be great.

I'm thinking the trip may be a little long, instead of a 2-1/2 hr flight
we'd be travelling the better part of one day.

I need to re-evaluate this.

Can you explain what "park n'fly" is? Is it something area hotels offer? If I come up with anything better, I'll let you know. Flights just seem so much less expensive out of Buffalo than out of Syracuse. I thought maybe we'd come down the day before, see the Falls, crash in a clean hotel room and go to the airport the next day. I hear what you're saying about traveling the better part of a day. We have 3 little ones and I wouldn't want to do that either. Hope you find what you need at a really good price!:D

well, I hope I can help with a little info about Buffalo Airport hotels. We used to live in Buffalo before we moved to Rochester and have stayed more than once at hotels there when we visited or before we flew out of BUF.

The Comfort Suites hotel is nice and we paid about $100/night with tax--give or take a bit depending on season and AAA discounts. We liked it because it has an indoor pool, a nice free breakfast (cereals, muffins, toast, fresh fruit, then the pre-made kind of frech toast sticks, etc.. and a big toaster oven, coffee, juices, etc..) The rooms are fairly large and come with a microwave and fridge. They have double rooms (I think) queen rooms and king rooms and every room has a fold-out couch. The hotel was built around 1990/1991 and does shows a little wear and tear but it is fine consider the parking situation--keep reading! The Choice hotels website should list this hotel (Comfort Suites Airport) on Dick Road and Genesee Street--it is about a 1/2 mile or so from the airport.)

The reason we chose this hotel however, is because they allow you to park your vehicle on their property and will shuttle you to the airport for your flight. We only stayed there 1 night before a flight to Miami (took a 7 day cruise) and they took us to the airport and picked us up the day we arrived back. There was no extra charge for this service and it was cheaper than staying elsewhere and paying for parking at the airport or at a park & fly.

Park & Fly is where you drop off your car at an off-airport parking lot and they shuttle you back and forth via their shuttle buses. You have to pay to park and they have different prices based on the company you pick. I *think* parking at the airport itself is about $8/day or so, so you can see how finding a hotel that will let you park there is a great idea.

hulagirl-you might also look into the Rochester airport. Sometimes we find cheaper flights out of our terminal-sometimes they are cheaper thru buffalo (mostly because we fly SWA & they don't have one here in Rochester). Plus the local hotels are pretty cheap and some do offer the parking & shuttle service for free. If you want more info on that just PM me and I'll email you what I found out.

HTH!

I am trying to get tickets from BUF to MCO at Easter time....I know I was crazy not to try earlier but plans changed. I need approximately Friday before Easter 4/18 with return in 9 or 10 days. Even Southwest is over $350 each and there is 4 of us. We have been spoiled with great rates for a long time....but these rates are almost double. Any advice here or anyone who can offer any hope? Thanks. Also, in Buffalo the Quality across from the airport also offers park and ride but we really like the Comfort Suites. The hotel is clean and staff nice. The rooms are a nice size. The parking lot seems safer to me than the Quality too.

travelocity and hotwire were advertising some sales.
Have you tried JetBlue?

Thanks for the info! I'm going to check flights out of Rochester too and I added it to my Fare wathcher. Now if only the prices would come down for July!:D

Great luck today - had to go day later but I added a day at the end and we got $154 R/T with Air tran and we now fly into Tampa. We saved around $800 with this move and an extra hour ride isn't that bad. These rates were not there until today and only showed on the airline site, not on orbitz or hotwire. This is for Easter week by the way.

That's an awesome rate! I also checked out the Sleep Inn yesterday......It borders the airport. (Holtz off of Genesee) They have free continental breakfast, airport shuttle and you can leave your car there for 2 weeks. The room I was shown looked very clean. The hotel is about 4 years old. The rooms are smaller than the Comfort Suites and there is no pool. But, on the positive, it doesn't cost as much. I am seriously considering booking this for our trip. It will save us some time in the morning and also will cost us less than the parking fee at any of the airport or off airport lots.

The Sleep Inn is also a nice hotel. It is newer and very convenient to airport. You are real close to Transit Road with all the restaurants and shopping. Enjoy!
