BUDGET Wedding Reception Decoration Ideas

We had an open bar. No one noticed that we didn't really decorate the place. You are there for the friends and food. If you have a good dj and good food I've found that you don't need many extras.

I know it is opposite of what most people think and the event coordinator at our location thought I was crazy that I wouldn't pay for chair covers etc. But it wasn't worth it to me.

We did set up a photo spot with a polaroid and all of our Mickey ears and Disney hats (pirates, mad hatter, princess, etc.) and our guests had a blast.

We had a beach wedding so we went with a beach themed reception. We had sea shells, fishing net and kept it simple. It was simple yet really beautiful. Decorations, plates, cups, and napkins were under $150 between Party City and Dollar tree.

We did the Christmas lights and tulle. I know it might be a little late for this, but I found several white dove Christmas ornaments on clearance after Christmas. We sprayed them with glitter spray and wired them in here and there throughout the tulle. It looked really nice and it was CHEAP! So don't forget about Christmas balls either. . .the silver or gold ones can make really nice centerpieces.

If you are looking for tulle, a prom supply (do an internet search) will sell rolls for around $50 for 100 ft.

We did balloons - balloons are very cheap.

Not sure when the wedding is, but we got married in October and had white pumpkins in the center of the table (we found fake white ones at Michael's for very cheap, but you could also paint real ones), and surrounded them with small white candles. It looked really pretty.

Also, instead of a DJ, you might look around for local entertainment. We found a guy who played acoustic guitar outside the House of Blues at DTD. He had never played a wedding, but he was more than willing and only charged $100. Everyone loved the entertainment.

My friend just made these amazing decorations for her wedding.

They were beautiful ! It looked as though the hooks were already there though.
