Budget TV: Plasma or LCD

Do only the plasma tv's have glass screens. That would be a deterrant for me. My son purchased a 60" plasma in Dec 2011 and in Dec 2012 his children were flipping pennies, one went through the screen, that ended his tv. They are now watching tv on a 29".

Guess you don't want to hear about my huge 26 inch TV in my family room :rotfl2: or my 9" TV in the bedroom.:lmao:

So ironic considering your job and username. :) We have the 51" plasma and a projector w/120" screen. I will admit that both have light issues in the summer (glare on the plasma, just not dark enough for the projector). In AK, this is an issue 24/7 for the summer months. We just don't watch much tv during the summer, but veg out and become housebound during the dark, winter months. Works for us, but while I love, love, love, our plasma, it could be an issue for some.

I will say we are moving and I am selling my tv (taking the projector since it's smaller). I will look at LCDs and LEDs and consider them, but both lag and motion blur are big issues for our family, so we will buy a tv with good ratings for those. Typically, those are issues that plasmas score higher on, but the technology is constantly changing.
