The past few years, I've discovered that buying a membership at the zoo, museum, aquarium is a pretty good value. It usually pays for itself after two visits or so. While looking for something to do this week with the kids, I came across Capron Park Zoo in Attleboro, MA. Their membership is only $40 for the family, which is pretty cheap for a membership. The best part though is a membership allows you to visit other zoos/museums etc in other states for discounted admission or most times, free! With the Capron membership, I can get into some other zoos in my area as well as the Museum of Science in Boston. The MoS admission alone is so worth getting this membership!

If you're interested, take a peek at the reciprocal list and see if there's something in your area. You can mail the form for membership and use it in your own area at the reciprocal zoos/museums.

Wow:banana: Thanks for the post. We were actually thinking of visiting Capron Park this week. What a bonus the other admissions (like Buttonwood and MoS) would be!

We like Capron Park, but find the admission to be so inexpensive I never bothered with a membership. I didn't know about the reciprocal zoo thing. But, Wow - the Museum of Science is on that list.

If it is anything like the Zoo mempership in Florida it may not apply to locations within 90 miles of your home. It is best to call and confirm with the location you want to visit before you get there. They also changed from free admisson to other zoos to 50% off at alot of them.

Been doing this for years!!! It really is a budget saver! I join a zoo closer to home, which used to be only $25 but has gone up in recent years and is now $45.

we have never had any trouble visiting other zoos as most are more than 90 miles from the chattanooga zoo.

Another good advantage is most zoos will also give you a discount on food and gift shop purchases.

yes, always best to call first so there are no surprises. I had a Roger Williams Zoo membership in the past which also allows entrance to Franklin Park Zoo, Stone Zoo and the MoS. I've used it at all those reciprocal places before with no problems

yes, it is quite inexpensive to go to Capron, but the membership alone is cheaper than paying out of pocket for the MoS. That's the biggest reason I got the membership!
